Halloween Parties continued...

>>Pandora at The Park at Fourteenth (920 14th Street) is going Halloween with a masquerade party. Don't even worry about stopping at Party City, they're providing masks (for the ladies only) at the concierge desk.

The party goes until 2 AM with $5 cocktails from 5-8 PM. (Shout out to whoever designed the email blast with the Paul Laurence Dunbar quote from We Wear the Mask...I had to memorize that in elementary school!)

>>If you're looking for another masquerade party but don't feel like going out tonight, check out Cafe Asia (1720 Eye Street NW) tomorrow night. The party goes until 3 AM and the best dressed gets a bottle of bubbly!!

Check out more Halloween parties here...

Spotted: Raheem DeVaughn at Cafe Asia

UMD hosted another homecoming party on Saturday night at Cafe Asia thanks to Mitch Mathis, Sayo and a host of another alum. But guess who spotted in the crowd:

He is Louis Vuittoned out! See more pics here.

Howard Homecoming 2008 - Saturday NIGHT!

It's the end of the weekend and if you're not tired yet, pull out your freekum and your hard bottoms and let's take over the city:

If you're looking for THE party to cram into, The Park at Fourteenth (920 14th Street NW). Diddy and AJ will be in the building. They're requesting only black attire (swankkkkky). The party goes until 3 AM.

If you've got the money (because the $45 tickets are sold out and it'll be $80 to get in) head to Bobby Vans (12th and NY Ave. NW) where DJ Kid Capri will be on the tables. It's a masquerade theme...oh and did I mention open bar ALL NIGHT with free appetizers and free deserts all night too??

Penang (1837 M Street NW) and Mai Thai (1200 19th Street NW) are shutting down 19th and M Streets to bring you one of the first block parties in years! A great idea, one price gets your admission to both venues. Get your tickets here...they range from $20-$250.

The third annual Cufflinks and Cocktails party is going down at Champions in Georgetown (1206 Wisconsin Ave. NW). Admission is $20 with a complimentary buffet.

Some sexy HU alum like Lamman Rucker will be at The Republic (1355 U Street NW) tonight. Also, Ryan Leslie (who is working the homecoming scene) will be in the building. Happy Hour from 7-10. Get in with a discount when your print this. Don't think this party will shut down anytime soon. Around 2 AM the party starts all over again and goes until 'until'. Complimentary breakfast from 3-5 AM. The first 500 ladies get in free (at 2 AM).

Y'all know about my huge musical crush on Ryan Leslie. Well, he'll be at Zanzibar (700 Water Street SW) tonight. Reduced admission before 10 PM.(that's mad early)

The City Museum (801 K Street NW) is poppin' off tonight with the sounds of Biz Markie (he's working this weekend, ain't he?). The party is called "Old Skool meets New School" with DJ Quicksilva reppin' the new school. Angie Ang will also be in the building.

Layla (501 Morse Street NW) is hosting a party tonight featuring DJ SNS. It's a more upscale venue (meaning freekum dresses).

CALLING ALL GREEKS (and people who love them)! The Kappas, Alphas, Omegas and Sigmas (damn, the Iotas never get no love!) are hosting tonight's party at Fur (33 Patterson Street NE). The first 500 ladies with this flyer get in free! :) It's 18+ to get in here.

Wow, I haven't partied here in years...Cafe Asia (1720 Eye Street NW) is having a HU alumni party for the classes of '97-'07. The party goes until 3 AM. Don't pay more than $20 to get in here. :)

Recap: Dt Continues Black Ice Series

Last night, I dragged my sick self out of bed because I try to be a woman of my word and be somewhere that I promised to be. I admit, I haven't been to Cafe Asia (1720 Eye Street NW) in about a month. It was getting kind of hood and not that I mind that...(I can hang with the best of them) but I was just looking for something different.

After midnight, the line wasn't swelling over into the streets as I remembered but I tried to think positive. Walking in, I noticed people (good) and that ice sculpture, which is supposed to signify Dt's latest series of parties, dubbed "Black Ice". Tonight had a 'splash of Miskeen' and (I admit)...I thought, is Miskeen a color I've never heard of?! I'm smart but I don't know everything...After googling it, it turns out to be a mix between fashion, art and pop culture. I like it.

(Photo: The first floor dance area at Cafe Asia...no it wasn't packed but it gave you just enough room to get cute and dance harder)

(Photo: Ed "Coso" Joseph, a Miskeen artist, doing his thing on a model inside the party)

I found it interesting that DJ Alizay (who is now one of my absolute favs...how do you manage to play all my favorite songs in one set?!) who usually rocks the crowd from the first floor was scratching upstairs in VIP. Now...it doesn't make much sense to me. We all know VIP never gets poppin' like that and doesn't a DJ wanna see how he's moving the crowd? Still, it didn't stop the partygoers below who took Alizay's move as more room to dance. And I'm sure the VIPers felt extra special cuz it felt like they were in a private party all to themselves.

Shout out to WKYS' Ill Will and Ra Ra on the mic who kept the crowd hype all night.

(Photo: DJ Alizay rockin' it out in VIP)

(Photo: Partygoers unaware of where Alizay went...doesn't look like they cared)

By 2 AM for some reason it looked emptier on the first floor...did everyone squeeze their way into VIP or just leave? Probably the latter, although you would think Alizay's tunes kept the place rocking close to 3 AM.

And one of my favorite aspects of Cafe Asia is the unisex bathroom but I have to represent for the girls who like to reapply, re-strap, re-button and move some things around in the bathroom at the club. I couldn't help but giggle when homegirl said, "There's dudes in here I can't even fix my d&$% bra!" Boo, next time just go into the stall...or make it a fashion statement! :)

I had fun...sniffles and all...

Dolla at Love | Miskeen at Cafe Asia

Like everybody else I have no idea who Dolla is or what he sings/raps/whatever but he'll be at Love (1350 Okie Street) tonight. I guess we can all find out then...oh yea, it's 18+ so check her ID before you get them digits! :)

Miskeen is getting mad love from Mitch and crew over at Cafe Asia (1720 Eye Street NW) tonight. Never heard of them? Click on the link...kind of like fashion meets art. Good stuff.

I'll be around tonight...I felt so horrible last night I was in the bed with tissues, water and Nyquil Sinus...aight enough about me. See ya around I'm sure! :)

*smiley faces after all of her phrases/either she the one or I'm caught in the matrix*

DC's Best Saturday Nightspots

Heyyyyy love muffins (sorry, that was my ode to B. Scott),

I'm in NYC right now so I can't talk for long but here's what's up in the city.

>>> Watch the fight (De La Hoya v. Forbes) tonight at H20 (800 Water Street SW)...

>>> Dreamteam has First Saturday's at Cafe Asia (1720 Eye Street NW) tonight...

>>> LGI throws "Addicted to Fresh" at Pasha (2417 P Street NW). Goldenboy and KI will be on the 1s and 2s but like I said...Pasha rarely pops off like that.

Feel free to check out the new spots like Pose (344 Waterfront Street) or some staples like Love (1350 Okie Street) or new staples like Josephines (1008 Vermont) or The Park at 14th (920 14th Street).

Okay...gotta run!

And stop thinking like that, I do love DC...I'm up here attending a wedding on Chelsea Piers (swank!)...be back in DC tommorow.

Luv you too,

DC Fab! Girl (and cut!)

Recap Rundown: Cafe Asia | The Park at 14 | Ibiza

I asked you to tell me and you did...

Cafe Asia (1720 Eye Street NW) was "okay [I] just did not expect the $20 cover." And yes, they are still serving people drinks in the smallest sippie cups ever!

Good times were had at The Park at 14th. Spotted was actor Anthony Mackie from the movie "She Hates Me". Anthony is in town because he is starring in several plays written by August Wilson at the Kennedy Center. Remember I told y'all about that? If not, click here.

And I keep hearing rave reviews about Ibiza nightclub on Friday. Looks like Quicksilva was right...

Recap: DT Helps Shaqwana Celebrate Her Bday at Cafe Asia

Many came out last Saturday (3.15.08) to Dt's "Grand Opening of Black Ice with a Splash of Pink" (a name I still don't understand even after the explanation from the man himself) which was really a birthday party for Shaqwana from the Russ Parr Morning Show.

After listening to Shaqwana every morning (I even listened this morning...why didn't you cut that lady off when she was yelling at Russ Parr! That was a mess...don't nobody yell at Russ Parr!) I was pleasantly surprised...the woman is gorgeous. BUT -- that dress she had on...oh no ma'am...it was just too many colors. Still, she partied in style with other members of WKYS who were in the building, including Russ Parr in his signature white fitted and Ill Will of course who was on the mic.

I'm just glad Shaqwana showed up; a little birdie in the bathroom told me that the Promotions Director was all types of unprofessional about things... (before you even say it, don't shoot the messenger)

Still, Cafe Asia was packed out with a very diverse crowd...it was very hood meets 'grown and sexy' meets 'old and not so sexy anymore'...if you get my drift. But after getting the most expensive Long Island ($14) I've never paid for, in a plastic cup no less; everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

I don't know but if we could quit with the trying to hard themes and just get to partying the world would be a better place. Oh yea, props for the line not being incredibly long!

Fab! note: photo of Shaqwana taken from RParr.com

Recap: The 2nd Annual Glamorous Fashion Show | Cafe Asia Rosslyn

My former roomate and dancemate (shout out to Dynamic Dance Team) invited me to The 2nd Annual Glamourous Fashion Show, held to raise money for the Asian Pacific American Film Festival and Culture Shock DC's Youth Outreach program.

If you don't know about Culture Shock DC you might want to find out...I remember watching them when I was in college; I wanted to join so bad but y'all know I'm more ballet than breakdance (I was a dancer in my former life! Shout out to anybody who danced at Ailey Summer Intensive!)

(Photo: Culture Shock DC dance team Photo Credit: Ama Henry)

The evening, sponsored by Singha beer (and they wouldn't let you forget it...they must've brought every piece of signage, t-shirt, hat, visor...and even some free beers for those who like to enjoy that sort of spirit) and had fashions from many local stores around town.

Cafe Asia in Rosslyn provided the perfect space...I didn't even know this Back Room existed but it was a great spot for a show and even the pre-show entertainment, which included dancers breakdancing to pass the time.

Still, the highlight of the night was Culture Shock DC's performance during intermission or even when they raffled off an iPod Touch and a weekend's stay at a hotel in DC. I didn't win either...oh well. Shout out to Swanky Productions, Jasmine, Aurelia and Chris L.!

"Grand Opening" at Cafe Asia

The Dream Team presents "The Grand Opening of Black Ice" with a Splash of Pink . I've been trying to comprehend what this means but to no avail...Mitch, help me out.

Anyway, it goes down tonight (3.15.08) at Cafe Asia (1720 Eye Street NW) and one of my favs Shaqwana from the Russ Parr Morning Show will be the hostest with the mostest. Shout out to Ill Will from WKYS!! Ra Ra "The Party Starter" will be on the mic, per usual.

Aiight y'all I gotta go drop off these coats from The Coat Project. I've made about two trips already to homeless shelters...there's just soooo many coats; I can't even believe it.

Anyway, see ya around tonight! :)

Fashion Show at Cafe Asia Rosslyn

So, tonight I'll be at Cafe Asia in Rosslyn (1550 Wilson Blvd), attending the 2nd Annual Glamourous Fashion Show. The event is free (sponsored by FDP-DC and Swanky Productions) but this is a fundraiser. Proceeds will go to the Asian Pacific American Film Festival and Culture Shock DC's Youth Outreach Program (Shout out to my old roomie Jasmine!!! Frederick Hall snitches!)

Doors open at 8 PM and if I know it's going to be packed as most of their events are. Oh yea, designers include:
Downtown Locker Room (for the hood niccuhs)

See you there! :)

Recap: Cafe Asia goes 80s...maybe?

So, your girl couldn't make it to Cafe Asia (1720 Eye Street NW) last Saturday for their tribute party to the 80s but the fabulous ones were out and had to tell me how it went down:

(Photo: DCFab! reader Sasha dressed in her 80s gear. I see you with the pink Pumas!)

She writes, "I was mad that not many people dressed up. Last year so many people were in 80s gear...they played a nice mixture of old school [jams]. Of course they had to play some new school for the youngin's in the crowd...Last year's party was legendary; I got the feeling they didn't promote this party well."

Well that's the word from Sasha...

Another source said, [It was] a nice high fashion affair. [There was] a good amount of people there to party so there was a great vibe all night...everyone came dressed. Hell it was a good night."

...and that's the word from the street...

Stay fab y'all :)

I'm an 80s baby!!! | H20 | Cafe Asia

I guess it's something about the 80s that has many promoters channeling one of the best decades (yes, I'm biased and yes, I was born in the 80s. Shout out to 1985!) Anyway, get your rope chains, your fronts, anything neon...dig up your scrunchies (not to put in your hair but on your shirt), your Kangol and anything that's oversized or too tight and doesn't match and you're good to go for this weekend...

Stop by H20 (800 Water Street SW) tonight (2.29.08) in your get up and hope someone else shows up like that too. Trey Songz is in the area (is anyone else feeling his new song??) and DJ Alizay will be on the turntables.

Oh yea, it's an 18 and over night so (like I always say) check the ID before you get the digits.

And, keep your 80s gear out for another 80s party at Cafe Asia (1720 Eye St. NW) on Saturday, March 1. The Dream Team decided to channel a specific year, 1988 (why not '85?!). There's no doubt that people here will be in their 80s get up so feel free to go allllllll out. Check out the commercial below (so cute!)

See Patrice? :)

Another DT Saturday at Cafe Asia | Feb 23

So DT is back after a three week vaca from the Cafe Asia (1720 Eye Street NW) spot...numbers were down blah blah blah. The party is called, "Hello"....? Hello to you too...but by now you should know a Cafe Asia/Dream Team party.

Solid party, slightly hood, room enough to dance and still look cute...drinks are good, not overpriced and you can even find a boo in the co-ed bathroom. Check it out! :) Oh yea, click here to RSVP.

Recap: Trendsetterz at Cafe Asia

If you missed the Trendsetterz party at Cafe Asia (1720 Eye St. NW) like I did (click here if you don't remember what I'm talking about) here's the footage from the event.

I see mad Bmore heads in there... :) I see you Ed!

SlackerFab: Love | The Gallery | Cafe Asia | Pasha

Okay folks...your girl is going to the Bahamas (shout out to 'Rickie; my jetset buddy) in like 5 hours and I really can't give y'all the rundown like I want to. BUT; the top four places to hit up this weekend are:

1. Talib Kweli will be at Love (1350 Okie St. NW) on Friday promoting his (relatively new) album Eardrum

2. The Gallery (1115 East West Highway)  in Silver Spring on Saturday -- shud be good now that the Hotboy DJ Quicksilva is on the 1s and 2s...

3. First Saturdays at Cafe Asia (1720 Eye St. NW)...this one is called "Sex Shooter"...I just don't get it...

4. Pasha is continuing the longest metaphor in DC party life with "The VIVID Trilogy". Check out the video invite here. Snaps for the hi-tech.

Okay luvs, back to packing I go...I'll miss you... :)

p.s. "I kinda' wanna be your sugar momma" <--- the joke was on me today! (inside Gchat joke)

MLK Weekend Continued | Trendsetters at Cafe Asia | The Park | The Lounge at Station 9

The Third Annual Movers, Shakers & Tastemakers event is poppin' off on Sunday (1.20.08)! Chee Chee & Cheeky along with The Usual Suspectz (shout to to Brandon!) among others are hosting this event at The Lounge @ Station 9 (1438 U Street NW)...never been here but it's a U Street establishment so it should be okay. Sources tell me it actually used to be the old Post Office building so it's very big with high ceilings...kinda hot. See pic below:

(Photo: Outside of Station 9)

(Photo: Interior of Station 9)

A portion of the proceeds will go to the MLK Memorial being built on the National Mall, so it's a good cause. Check it out, if you're not too worn out from Saturday night.

---
CORRECTION:
So a new entertainment group is trying to take over Cafe Asia (1720 Eye Street) on Sunday (1.20.08). I guess the owners are getting greedy but Charles and Lanre of Trendsetterz Ent. are throwing a party on DT's stomping groups called One Night Stand.

Promising a good time, Charles says there will be a lot of giveaways, Angie Ange from WKYS will be in the building and he says, "when the guests come in they'll have something nice waiting for them". I tried to squeeze more info outta' him but that's all he would tell me.

It's the young party thrower's first solo event. Charles of TE grew up in PG County and attends Morgan State...he's bringing a lot of his Bmore crew with him to Northwest DC this Sunday.

Find out for yourself. It's free before 11 if your RSVP here.

---

This is not a Fab! endorsed event but I won't lie and say I'm not curious. The Park at 14th (920 14th St. NW) is truly a gorgeous venue but the crowd is typically...shall we say, less than brown, which isn't a problem but if you're looking to thug it out...don't come here.

For more info, check out their website here.

Saturday | DT at Cafe Asia | Flywire at Gallery | Vivid at Pasha | 18+ Love with DJ Khaled | Teedra Moses at Black Cat

Hopefully the snow won't keep us in the house this weekend because there is literally too much to do. From Silver Spring to downtown DC, there's something for everyone!

---

Of course, Dream Team has Cafe Asia (1720 Eye Street) on lock (at least on Saturdaysss) and they're paying homage to a man that made tremendous change in the lives of every American.

With their "I Have a Dream" party on Saturday (1.19.08) I guess you can two step and think about how much progress America has made, where racism doesn't exist anymore and separatism is a thing of the pasttttt ( I'm too cynical for my own good!)

---

Flywire hooked up with Cheeky Sasso Ent. to bring Flywire Saturdays to the Gallery (1115 East West Highway) in Silver Spring. Flywire is known heavily in Baltimore, not so much DC but maybe Flywire is trying to get more exposure. More power to them.

Cheeky throws very classy events so I'm sure every third Saturday at the Gallery will be completely grown and hopefully sexy.

---

Muna and Vivid Fusion (what does that mean anyway?!) had a very succesful party last Saturday (if you missed our Fab Correspondent Miss Aminata's review, click here) and he's trying to do it again this Saturday (1.19.08).

Same place, probably the same crowd...It's called "The Encore", how fitting. It's a nice time, I just hope they have the air conditioning on this time!

---

So, Marc Barnes decided to shut down his Thursday night party for the 18+ crew and give them some love on the weekend. Love (1350 Okie Street NW) will now be 18+ on Saturdays, giving Platinum some much needed competition.

It's called Dream Saturdays (perhaps a homage to the club, as it was once named Dream). DJ Khaled will be in the building (WE THE BESTTTT!) to help transform a once 21+ night to 18+. But don't worry, for those of us who are 'of age' the third floor will be dedicated to those who got ID.

Hope this works!

CALLING ALL TEEDRA MOSES FANS!!!!!!!

She'll be at Black Cat (1811 14th St.)  this Saturday (1.19.08). Doors open at 9 PM and tickets are $22. Click here to get some!

Here's Teedra performing "Take Me" at Black Cat back in April.

More to come...this weekend never ends!!!!!
