Is Gilbert Arenas the Top Philanthropic Athelete in 2008?

Our own Gilbert Arenas is in the finals for the Top Philanthropic Athlete for 2008, awarded by Black Gives Back.

He's recognized for his Scores for Schools program, that benefits Washington, D.C. area schools. Each point that Gilbert scores in a home game is worth $100 for a selected school. Read more...

Gilbert Arenas Gets Waxed

Gilbert Arenas has free time on his hands since he has yet to play in a game this season. Thursday, Madame Tussands unveiled his wax figure, which really kinda' looks like him:

Can you get back into training so we can win at least two games this year? Thanks!

Pics: Gilbert Arenas' Engagement

"So she goes, “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” out loud so everybody could hear her.

It worked. It turns out she ended up asking me to marry her."

Gilbert Arenas Engaged!

Washington Wizard Gilbert Arenas, 26 is finally getting married to his baby motha' Laura Govan, 29!

Mommy and baby; Arenas' daughter Izela Semaya Arenas. She's precious!

According to the Washington Post, the two met in 2001 when he was playing for the Warriors and she was working in public relations for the Sacramento Kings. After splitting up and getting back together, the two had their first child in 2005 Izela Semaya. Then comes a paternity suit (huh?) and legal troubles and still, they had child number two, a son, Alijah Amani in 2007. After blogging about their break up last Thanksgiving, by February they were back together. This reminds me of that song "Valentine's Day" by Solange.

Despite all the ups and downs, I hope they can stick it out! Congrats to the couple and their cutie pie children! :)

Gilbert Arenas' Million Dollar Pool

I don't care that much but this does scream fabulosity...Washington Wizard Gilbert Arenas is into building some fabulous things and he doesn't spare a penny! The same builders who built the pool at the Playboy mansion are hookin' our boy up with an outdoor treat:

To see more grainy pics click here. Yea! Thanks Dan!

The 80s babies were in full effect last night at Collaborations (The Verizon Center's new private lounge...I hear membership will run you $30,000 for two people) to celebrate DeShawn Stevenson's 27th birthday, thrown by none other than the Washington Wizards.

Lord knows I hated 80s fashion but I must say everyone looked great...kudos to everyone for bringing the 80s back tastefully. Big shout out to Gilbert Arenas for rocking the Gucci circa 1984. A night hosted by WPGC's Big Tigger, this 80s themed party was complimented well by the sounds of a Hip-hop legendary Biz Markie who rocked the 80s hits all night.

The party featured an arcade including our fav 80s games: Pacman and Tetris...yes,
Tetris! There were vases filled with all of your favorite candy from the 80s, including ring pops, candy necklaces and Pop Rocks! What you know about them Pop Rocks? They even had the Twister game going... it was crazy fun.

(Photo: Yes, we played Twister! Photo Credit: Shakirah Hill)

All the Wiz Kids were in the building and even though they lost the game that night, you wouldn't have been able to tell by the way they were partying. I spotted Seezins of Flavor of Love... she's been at a lot of their events lately and from what I hear she wasn't on the guestlist...hmmm dating one of the players maybe?

The usual groupies were in the building who I will leave unnamed. Still, the highlight of the night was Stevenson's choreographed grand entrance and special performance by Slick Rick.

Overall, I give the evening an 8 and that's only because it was hella hot!

Recap: Caron Butler's Birthday Party

Before I head out tonight I might as well tell you what went down yesterday around 14th and K Streets (Northwest of course). Caron Butler celebrated turning 28 (wow, that's it?...the man looked good last night with his wife...dag) at The Park at 14th.

I saw a lot of familiar faces at this 'invitation' only event; the DC socialites were definitely out. Joining us were b-list celebs like Carmen Electra...and although they used Kim Kardashian's face on the flyer I never saw her. Still, I could have easily missed her as this small spot has four floors each with its own lounge and dance floor. I wound up on the 3rd floor as the 2nd floor was reserved for VIPs.

(Photo: People trying to find the best floor for them in The Park)

Still, Caron is a baller so you know all of his teammates were in the building. I felt short for once; I'm 5'10" (yeaaah!) with Antwan Jamison, Gilbert Arenas and Andre Blatche in the building to name a few. Even the NFLers came out...Ray Lewis trekked from Baltimore to celebrate with the kid. He was even mixing and mingling, sweat dripping off his funny shaped head (Go Ravens!)...he's a cool dude tho. UMCP Alum and the most going out football player ever Vernon Davis popped up with Lavar Arrington, Roger Mason, Antonio Freeman and even Jason Campbell.

We can't forget the baseball players...I don't watch baseball so alls I know is that they played for the Boston Redsox and since one of them spilled his drink on me, their agent bought me martini's all night...great night. not so good morning. lol.   :)

Hmmm...something about this picture is all wrong. Can you guess what it is? Oh yea and Gilbert is d-runk.

(Photo: Your girl, Joi-Marie with Kavon who claims to be the hardest working promoter in the biz)

It was a great night if you're a big sports fan and after everyone had about 2-9 drinks in them people were dancing instead of standing around getting annoyed because the place was absolutely TOO small to handle everybody in a civil manner...and fans could even wait outside to get autographs from their favorite ballers. Did I mention that Caron looked good?

Anyway, it's another FM Girl night so I gots ta' go.

Stay fab snitches! :)
