Howard Homecoming 2008 - Saturday NIGHT!

It's the end of the weekend and if you're not tired yet, pull out your freekum and your hard bottoms and let's take over the city:

If you're looking for THE party to cram into, The Park at Fourteenth (920 14th Street NW). Diddy and AJ will be in the building. They're requesting only black attire (swankkkkky). The party goes until 3 AM.

If you've got the money (because the $45 tickets are sold out and it'll be $80 to get in) head to Bobby Vans (12th and NY Ave. NW) where DJ Kid Capri will be on the tables. It's a masquerade theme...oh and did I mention open bar ALL NIGHT with free appetizers and free deserts all night too??

Penang (1837 M Street NW) and Mai Thai (1200 19th Street NW) are shutting down 19th and M Streets to bring you one of the first block parties in years! A great idea, one price gets your admission to both venues. Get your tickets here...they range from $20-$250.

The third annual Cufflinks and Cocktails party is going down at Champions in Georgetown (1206 Wisconsin Ave. NW). Admission is $20 with a complimentary buffet.

Some sexy HU alum like Lamman Rucker will be at The Republic (1355 U Street NW) tonight. Also, Ryan Leslie (who is working the homecoming scene) will be in the building. Happy Hour from 7-10. Get in with a discount when your print this. Don't think this party will shut down anytime soon. Around 2 AM the party starts all over again and goes until 'until'. Complimentary breakfast from 3-5 AM. The first 500 ladies get in free (at 2 AM).

Y'all know about my huge musical crush on Ryan Leslie. Well, he'll be at Zanzibar (700 Water Street SW) tonight. Reduced admission before 10 PM.(that's mad early)

The City Museum (801 K Street NW) is poppin' off tonight with the sounds of Biz Markie (he's working this weekend, ain't he?). The party is called "Old Skool meets New School" with DJ Quicksilva reppin' the new school. Angie Ang will also be in the building.

Layla (501 Morse Street NW) is hosting a party tonight featuring DJ SNS. It's a more upscale venue (meaning freekum dresses).

CALLING ALL GREEKS (and people who love them)! The Kappas, Alphas, Omegas and Sigmas (damn, the Iotas never get no love!) are hosting tonight's party at Fur (33 Patterson Street NE). The first 500 ladies with this flyer get in free! :) It's 18+ to get in here.

Wow, I haven't partied here in years...Cafe Asia (1720 Eye Street NW) is having a HU alumni party for the classes of '97-'07. The party goes until 3 AM. Don't pay more than $20 to get in here. :)

The party goes until 4 AM. Tickets are between $50 here. If you go here, be dressed to impress and intend on major crowds and drinks between $9-$13.

Many of Hollywood's fine Black celebs will be partying at Ibiza (1222 First Street NE) tonight including, Morris Chesnut, Boris Kodjoe, Biz Markie will be on the tables and I can't forget Claudia Jordan and Tony Rock. Print this out to get in free before 9 PM. There's a $5 cocktail special from 7-9 PM. The party goes until 3 AM.

Last night, The Park at Fourteenth (920 14th NW) popped off with Biz Markie on the tables and many HU alum in the building. Shout out to my girl Robin who celebrated her birthday there last night. Still, tonight, the party continues. There's open bar from 5-6 PM. RSVP here. Again, dress to impress because they will deny you at the door...

If you're looking for perhaps a less crowded party, check out the City Museum (800 Mt. Vernon Pl. NW) for a mingling party sponsored by Crown Royal and Uptown. To get in free all night, click here. The party is from 7-10 PM.

If you're trying to party on a budget, head to Pure (1326 U Street NW. Ladies free until midnight, fellas until 11 PM. They even have $1 drinks from 6-9 PM. The party goes until 3 AM. Click here to RSVP.

If you graduated from Howard during the...well, let's just call them the good ole' days, hop down to Zanzibar (700 Water St. SW) because Sugar Hill Gang will be performing.

Howard Homecoming 2008 - Thursday Night!

My inbox is overflowing from emails from almost every promoter in town! It's crazy how busy things get around the District when the most prominent HBCU has its homecoming. Here's your Thursday night:

Get here: At The Park at Fourteenth (920 14th Street NW) not only will Biz Markie be on the tables but (sexy fine) Lance Gross better known to me as ANTM's Eva's boyfriend. He's also an alum of Howard. They've extended the $5 cocktail special until 8 PM and the party goes until 3 AM. RSVP here.

Inner Loop Records is pushing a party at Felix Lounge (2406 18th Street NW) in Adams Morgan featuring one of my favs DJ Alizay. Ladies are free until 11 and there's an open bar until 11 PM.

Ibiza (1222 First Stree NE) is also opening it's doors tonight for HU Homecoming. If you like big clubs, head here although if the weather continues you can chill out on their wonderful rooftop lounge. 18 to enter and 21 to drink.

If you're into underground music, check out Zanzibar (700 Water Street SW) because Fertile Ground and Aniekan Udofia will be performing on Thursday night. Tickets are $18 in advance and $25 at the door. Call 301-537-1689 to get your hands on them. A portion of the proceeds will go to "Praise for the Cure", an initiative for breast cancer awareness.

Layla Lounge (501 Morse Street NE) will have $5 drink specials from 6-8 PM on Thursday night for those 21 and older. The party goes until 2 AM.

1223 (1223 Connecticut Ave. NW) is a little hood but it does offer an open bar from 9-11 PM on Thursday night. Everyone is free all night when you text 1223 to 313131.

Allen Iverson Goes to Court for Zanzibar Brawl

Of course this would happen at Zanzibar...hmmm...anyway, Allen Iverson will go to court to face charges that - not him but his security guard beat down a fellow party-goer, Gregory Broady, back in 2004.

Weird thing is that Iverson says he doesn't even remember going to Zanzibar or even bringing security with him and wanted the case to be thrown out.

Still, the club manager said Iverson was there...but it get's worse because the guy still doesn't have hard proof that it was Iverson's security that hit him. The judge is giving him a month to toughen up his case. (Boo.)

There's a helluva lot poppin' off tonight so I'll just get straight to the point...

Carmelo, LaLa, DJ Khaled, Ray J and Bow Wow, Bryan Micheal Cox (wow, producers are getting mad love these days), Big G, Cool and Dre and even Slim from 112 will all be up in this mega-club. Check out the rooftop lounge if you're not partying too hard. Get here early...I'm sure it'll crowded and over $20 after 11 PM.

Calling all AKAs! You're free if you hit up Zanzibar (700 Water Street SW) if you're wearing para. Big Tigger is supposedly hosting this affair.

Love (1350 Okie Street NW) is battling Ibiza with the most number of celebs to be in the building. Vernon Davis, Carmelo is also slated to stop by here with his (can he marry her already?!) fiancée LaLa, Allen Iverson, Serena Williams, The Clipse (who performs tonight at Ned Devine's), Mike Beasley and many more. Get here early as well...it'll be crazy packed. Oh yea, Too Short and Maino (You see me!! Hi Hater) will be performing.

John Legend's protégé and newly signed artist, Estelle, is making quick strides as a transnational sensation. If you don't know much about Estelle, whose hot single is "American Boy" (clip features Kanye West), you're sure to hear more about the talented artist over the following months. Estelle is steadily receiving much attention both abroad and within the United States as a splendid addition to the R&B/Neo-Soul genres. Check out her MySpace page here.

If you want to know more, she's scheduled to make an appearance at Zanzibar (700 Water St SW) tomorrow night (4.15.08) at 8 PM. Mark your calendars because Ms. Estelle is sure to stand and deliver!

Skyclub VIP Lounge at Zanzibar on the Waterfront

Terry Frasier along with Supa Scotty (ya know, the one who rolls tough with IDC) are having a fight party tonight at the Skyclub VIP Lounge in Zanzibar (700 Water St. SW) !!! Kelly Pavlik vs. Jermain Taylor (See a run down of the fight here) will be battling it out on 10 flat screens, with food and the sounds of the "The Original" DJ Quicksilver (Gotta send my bads to the Hotboy who undoubtedly corrected me!) should be a good night...
...too bad Zanzibar is infamous for it's nasty old men...and just old people in general. Hmm...
