Friday Night Hotspots

A great cause that's dear to my heart. Y'all remember the Coat Drive I did last year and this great organization is doing something similar: Stussy Share the Warmth is a charity partnership between Stussy DC and OneWarmCoat.org bringing warmth to those in need. For the next week (Nov. 14 - 21) Stussy DC will be accepting gently used coats for donation. Anyone who donates a coat will also receive a complimentary 15% off a new Stussy coat.

The drive begins tonight at Stussy DC (1781 Florida Ave. NW) with music, drinks and hors d’euvres will be provided. The party starts at 8 PM.

Love (1350 Okie Street NW) is celebrating it's 7-year anniversary. No word yet if any celebrities will be in the building.

Help the
George Mason Ques celebrate thier Founders Day at Ibiza Nightclub (1222 First Street NE). DJ Quicksilva will be on the 1s and 2s. Homie, did you get your voice back yet?

Halloween Parties!

Halloween is fast approaching and I am a total big kid; I love Halloween (partly because my mom never really let me celebrate it during my childhood...boo on her!). Anyway, here are some fun and traditional ideas to celebrate Halloween in the DMV:

DC Fab! Girl on Halloween circa 2007

>> The Usual Suspectz are hosting a costume party at Club 24 (2122 24th Street NE) on Friday night. The winner of the best costume will receive $500 so don't sleep (I've already bought my costumeeeee!) This party is 18+. Click here for more details.

>> To start Halloween off right, Fur (33 Patterson Street NE) is hosting a Thursday night party complete with open bar from 9-10 PM. Everybody is free until 11 PM and the party is hosted by WKYS' Angie Ange (I swear I saw her walking across Farrugut Park the other day). Click here for more details.

>> If you're on that recession diet, head to Republic (1355 U Street NW) because it's FREE all night! That's right folks...but you must RSVP here.

>>Also, I must shout out the commenter who really made me see the light about Love (1350 Okie Street NW). That's just it, if you liked Love 3-5 years ago, you really shouldn't be going there now. Let the kiddies enjoy it. Dag...and I thought I was grown partying in Love 3-5 years ago. I guess, I'll let Love die. But if you're not willing to let it go, head there and get in free with a costume all night. They're hosting a 4th floor costume party. The winner will recieve $1000 in bottle service (that's a lot of liquor).

>>Pure (1326 U Street NW) is also having a recession-friendly party with ladies free until 12 and fellas free before 11. Click here to make that happen! Oh! And $100 plus a bottle of champagne for the best costume! :)

If you're not into partying on Halloween (who are you?!)...just kidding, here are some fun alternatives:

>> Go to Fright Fest at Six Flags America in Largo. It's open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night until 10 PM. Get tickets here.

>>Pick out a pumpkin at a nearby pumpkin patch! This is one of my favorite things to do around this season (partly because I couldn't dress up as a child so this is all we did...). Click here to find one near you! :)

>>Go on a haunted train ride. I've never done this but I reallllly reallly want to. Sounds like a fun date. Go on a creepy carousel and a haunted hayride in Wheaton. Click here for more info!

Many of Hollywood's fine Black celebs will be partying at Ibiza (1222 First Street NE) tonight including, Morris Chesnut, Boris Kodjoe, Biz Markie will be on the tables and I can't forget Claudia Jordan and Tony Rock. Print this out to get in free before 9 PM. There's a $5 cocktail special from 7-9 PM. The party goes until 3 AM.

Last night, The Park at Fourteenth (920 14th NW) popped off with Biz Markie on the tables and many HU alum in the building. Shout out to my girl Robin who celebrated her birthday there last night. Still, tonight, the party continues. There's open bar from 5-6 PM. RSVP here. Again, dress to impress because they will deny you at the door...

If you're looking for perhaps a less crowded party, check out the City Museum (800 Mt. Vernon Pl. NW) for a mingling party sponsored by Crown Royal and Uptown. To get in free all night, click here. The party is from 7-10 PM.

If you're trying to party on a budget, head to Pure (1326 U Street NW. Ladies free until midnight, fellas until 11 PM. They even have $1 drinks from 6-9 PM. The party goes until 3 AM. Click here to RSVP.

LL Cool J at Love

So apparently he did show...where in the world was I?! ::sigh:: Word on the street is that when LL Cool J performed his hit single "Doin' It," he invited some ladies to join him onstage. Of course, if you invite one, you invite them all...Poor LL almost got mobbed on stage. He said, "I'm nice, but I'm not that nice. I thought this was a corporate event!"

hehe! :)

Recap: "LL Cool J" and Verizon at Love

Despite the torrential downpours, we waded our way to Love (1350 Okie Street) for a not-so-private "private party" sponsored by Verizon and supposedly hosted by LL Cool J.

I really surprised myself this month, by actually going to Love, not once but twice! And I had a good time...although I did find myself sneering in the middle of the night, "Ugh. Love is too commercial."

Still, Love is the perfect backdrop for a reception of any kind and Friday night was no exception. It was the most dark suits I've seen in Love in a while and of course the men proudly paraded their Greek or non-Greek affiliations with tasteful lapel pins (a networker's trick).

A typical night, the reception didn't offer anything spectacular. Big Tigger tried to bring some type of entertainment, with crazy Malcolm Ray dancing like a fake Diddy beside him (that boy hasn't changed since college).

Did I mention I never saw L.L.?! Wack.

DC Fab! fans with Bmore Fab! Bureau Chief Mia (front) and DC Fab! Girl (far right)

Stay fab ;)

Pic Recap: Dawn and Day 26 at Love

I think the entire city missed the memo that Danity Kane, well really just Dawn, and Day 26, well really just Q and Robert, were celebrating the boy's birthdays at Love over the weekend.

RSVP Now: Congressional Black Caucus Events

It's one of my favorite times of the year. And although the entire week consists of workshops, great lectures and the like, this is a socialite's blog so I'll just highlight the really good events/receptions (not the ones that require an RSVP, sorry) but I'll give you the skinny on the events open to the general public:

Recap: Howard MBA's Celebrate at Love

Your girl is sad because she lost her memory card at Love (1350 Okie Street NW) on Friday night (I must have been having a good time...) but anyway...

With the National MBA Convention coming to a close, many out of town MBAers and even more Howard MBA students (or those trying to get into the program), mixed and mingled with some of the finest of black business.

Early into the night, each bar on the first floor, dedicated to a different kind of liquor (I liked the vodka bar, hated the Cruzan), was packed with patrons trying to get it in before the open bar closed. With so many familiar faces that were totally different from the regular DC socialites (does anybody else get bored with seeing the same people every week?), if you looked closely you might have even saw a BET or ESPN talking head.

By 10 PM, Love was actually on and poppin'. Sure, the convention crowd brought an older demographic to the place but still...I felt young and shiny (as my spec would say) so I felt alllll good! :) Shout out to the third floor.

Later on in the evening the Wizards did show up despite that touchy incident with DeShawn Stevenson months before.

Caron

Antawn...he has really worked on his 'deer in headlight' eyes when he takes pictures! You go boy!

Big Tigger on the mic!

Wizards Back to Training Camp Party

To celebrate the Wizards going back to training camp (is this really a celebratory occasion?!) Love (1350 Okie Street NW) is bringing party life regulars: Antawn Jamison, Caron Butler and Andray Blatche to get it in...I would say one last time but we know that's not true...
