Shy Mag and FW at The Park

It's Shy Magazine's 1 year anniversary and the follow-up 'launch' party for Fashion Washington (a new insert dedicated to fashion in The Washington Post).

Tonight is the same Pandora at The Park (920 14th Street NW) but make sure you look your best because I also hear it's the premiere of ShyTV. (I think that just means a guy with a video camera). They have the same specials $5 cocktails from 5-7 PM with a reduced menu.

Congrats to Shy Magazine and welcome Fashion Washington! :)

The Park's Congressionl Black Caucus Flagship Event

Hosted by The National Bar Association (Young Lawyers Division) and Grey Goose, this Thursday, The Park (920 14th Street NW) continues to dominate the sexy lounge scene by opening up it's doors to the many that are in town for CBC week.

From 5-7 PM, enjoy $5 cocktails and a great menu selection (gotta luv those crab cakes). See how they did it last week when the MBAers were in town:

Boris Kodjoe at The Park

Sexy fine Boris Kodjoe will try to lure the ladies out once again to The Park at Fourteenth (920 14th Street NW).

This is the second time he's been to The Park in a couple of months and I'm not sure he caused a stir the first time but he is nice to look at...

Did you know his wife went to Roland Park Country School in Baltimore!? Yea for the DMV.

Anyway, he'll be there tonight. $5 cocktails from 5-7 with $10 entrees, and the meals are yummy! (Don't get the penne, it's too spicy and don't get the jerk chicken wings because you'll still be hungry. You can't lose with the crab cakes or steak options!)

Recap: DC Fab!'s Anniversary at The Park

Normally I would ask, where were you...but...I had such a good time I don't even care! DC Fab! correspondents, fans and TheFabEmpire.com family at large all met up at The Park at Fourteenth (920 14th Street NW) last night to celebrate the one year anniversary of the blog that made talking about the DC social scene cool...(Am I tooting my own horn?...maybe!)

Thanks to the good people, Miles of Team BBC, Ray of Dave and Ray and Taz of the famed Marc and Taz, I was hooked up with bottles and a cake; the perfect ingredients to celebrate right.

I luv y'all like a fat kid luv cake! :)

Miles of Team BBC with TheFabEmpire.com family

At 11 o'clock when we first arrived, the funny thing was that The Park was packed but all eyes were glued to the many flat screens that aligned the walls. Patrons weren't worried about dancing or even mingling...they were watching the Olympics! (Ain't that some ish...lol).

By midnight the Olympics went off and Ra-Ra "The Party Starter" was on the mic. The Park was (of course) difficult to walk through, especially on the third floor. Ballers like Andray Blatche made special appearances and Taz was seen mingling with all of his guests.

Ra-Ra showing DC Fab! mad love...thanks boo! :)

I must give a shout out to my dedicated team (*tear*). I couldn't have done this without you! Shout out to my girl Tiffany, who was on a plane from Boston for over 8 hours trying to get here because two of her flights were canceled (and still looked fab! coming straight from the airport to the club...)

Boston Fab! girl Tiffany with ATL Fab! dude Kelechi

With many of DC's promoters in the building such as J&K, Brandon of The Usual Suspectz and others, the party was kinda' off the hook...and I can't forget my blogger friends who came out to support, although none of us recognized each other (lol...I guess that's the difficulty in having blogger friends). Thanks Brennan!

We devoured the red velvet cake...it did say "Happy Anniversay DC Fab!"

DC Fab! with Ray of Dave and Ray, one of the promotional teams at The Park

But...the party doesn't stop here. Join us at Penang (1837 M Street NW) this Saturday to finish off this DC Fab! Anniversary weekend right. Ladies, RSVP here to get in free before midnight annnnnd free martinis all night long. It don't get no better...

TheFabEmpire.com crew...it's a franchise!

Try not to miss out a second time...

Mini Recap: Boris Kodjoe at The Park at 14th

In typical Thursday fare, by 6:30 PM The Park at Fourteenth (920 14th Street NW) was crowded. I didn't see many AKAs (although maybe they just didn't have on their pink and green) but I did see DC's typical socialites, Alphas, Kappas and of course the old men that look like they should be playing golf with my dad.

I luv that yellow dress (far right)

If you're hungry here, as soon as you walk in put your name on the list for a table. Eventually (after about 1.5 hours) you will be seated and the food is worth it (Don't get the jerk chicken wings unless you're really not that hungry...they're more like wingettes! I got GOT!). And don't think you can just hover around the tables and sit down when someone gets up because it doesn't work like that...you will get booted and scooted. :)

By 9 PM, the spotlights were brought out in front of The Park (I suppose letting everyone know the party had started) and a serious line was forming outside. Party veteran Marc Barnes gathered the troops (Team BBC, Dave & Ray (who called me EARRRRLY this morning to let me know the night was another packed success) and the Talk of DC) to get ready for the crowds.

The promoters for the evening: Ray, James, Miles, Dave and BJ

The good thing about The Park is that they didn't act brand new just because the AKAs are in town and the bad thing is that due to the crowds who love to mingle and party here, they've reduced to using plastic cups and putting martinis in champagne flutes (much like Love). I don't know about you but I feel less grown and less sexy carrying around plastic. Fine! I get it...you don't have time to wash and re-use and people break glass but...I suppose I'll just miss the "old" days when I could have my martini in an actual martini glass. ::sigh::

My grainy pic of Boris Kodjoe entering The Park

With so many floors at The Park, my suggestion people, is to utilize the third and fourth floors, which always seem to have a good amount of people...and STOP pushing on the second floor. I was about to get Baltimore on a few people...

Ray of Dave & Ray, one of the promoters for the evening. Yes, we luv the suit!

Anyway...stay fab. :)

p.s. I heart Dave & Ray!

Boris Kodjoe at The Park | What ATL Fab! Thinks...

Tonight, it goes down at The Park at 14th (920 14th Street) and sexy fine Boris Kodjoe will be in the building...not to mention $5 cocktails and $10 dinner entrees and with inflation as bad as it is, it doesn't really get any better than this.

Last week, ATL Fab! who recently moved here raved about The Park. He writes:

Call me naïve, call me green, hell…call me the New Kid on the Block. Speaking of them, who knew they'd come back with a single? But that's a completely different story, I, Kaluskie have moved to the DMV area and I completely love it!

ATL Fab! with Kristina Joye

Before the AKA's invaded the capital city, there was ONE place to be last Thursday night: The Park at Fourteenth. This four-floored spot just might be the best happy hour spot in town—and I've frequented quite a few already.

The crowd on the first floor

Hosted by Team BBC, Dave & Ray and Talk of DC, DJ Oz spun on the one's and two's while DC's young socialites sipped on lemon drop martinis and Grey Geese on the rocks. And if you're hungry, all entrées over $10 are just…$10! And if you know the right people, like I do, they'll keep the kitchen open for you a bit later than allowed (Make sure you ask for Eddy S. and the crab cakes are simply divine).

Your boy pictured with Spelman AKAs before the start of their convention

What impressed me was that everyone seemed to think that they were VIP. I guess confidence really is key in this city. Woe to the underdressed, because you won't set foot in The Park with cheap/busted ass sneakers. And because the venue is faced with lengthy glass windows, EVERYONE will see you get turned away. :)

Get fab! See you there!

Mini Recap: Thursday's at The Park at 14th

Last night, I got to The Park (920 14th St. NW) early to secure a table to get my grub on...after last week when I was salivating at everyone else's plate, I was determined to get my crab cakes with a side of macaroni and cheese. It was no doubt delish. Other favorites were the rib eye with loaded baked potato but the shrimp, scallop and lobster pasta was too spicy and just didn't go well with any cocktail or glass of wine so skip that. Click here to view the menu.

The atmosphere was very chills, with everyone's eyes glued to the big screens on the second floor to watch the beggining of the NBA draft. I'm not that into sports so my friends and I just rated how cute they were...

Shout out to DMV's Michael Beasley (went to NDP) who was drafted to the Miami Heat! There's plenty of parties in his honor this weekend...

I left around 8 but the partied continued all night...look who showed up:

(Photo: Washington Wizard's Andray Blatche with friends and fans)

And of course the 'hardest working' promoter out there Kavon...We see you.

p.s. Oh! And I have to say this...if you're coming to The Park between the hours of 5-7, please leave your "I'm-staying-all-night-so-I-put-on-my-Freekum-Dress-now" look in the car...because that's just what it looks like and it ain't cute. Thanks.

Video Recap: Thursday Happy Hour at The Park at 14th

Sorry this has taken so long but my iMovie and iPhoto were effin up!!!! (Thanks to the Apple guy Sean for sticking it out with me for two hours to get it fixed!) This post is long overdue and is supposed to be a video recap of Thursday happy hours at The Park at 14th (920 14th Street NW).

Here's what my friend Chelsea said after leaving The Park.

Clearly, it's the spot to be at after work on Thursday. Whether it's meeting up with friends or heading over with your co-workers (I'm taking my intern here next Thursday), it's the spot to relax, eat dinner and drink your favorite cocktail for under $20.

If you come to The Park on Thursday make sure you leave work on time and get there by 5:30 because by 6 PM every table in the house is gone...and although people have already finished eating they won't give up their table so you can sit down... and no you can't order food without a table. How hungry was I last Thursday? Very.

Still, while downing my apple martini and thinking which fast food joint would be open when I left, I mingled with several DC socialites and friends from school. Although I couldn't help notice the old heads in the building...and I mean really old...like my daddy old. I guess they have to get their drink and mingle on too.

Go to The Park on Thursday to meet the professional crowd...think business cards, cocktails and filet mignon for $5!

:)

I'm Already Thinking about Thursday...The Park

It's Wednesday, the Celtics won...some people lost some money on that one and I'm already thinking about Thursday. It goes down at The Park at 14th (920 14th Street NW) every Thursday in high style. Here are some pics from last week to give you a taste...

People have fun here...join them Thursday night! :)

p.s. Are y'all still having $5 cocktails and $5 entrees from 5-7 PM???

Recap: Santana Moss Celebrates His Life at Pose

Last night, DC socialites, groupies and local randoms rushed into Pose Ultra Lounge (201 Waterfront Street) all trying to get in before midnight to avoid paying (CORRECTION: Everyone got in free)...the cover charge at Pose is $25 for anyone who isn't staying at the hotel regularly. It took some of DC's best promoters, including some of my absolute favs: Team BBC, Talk of DC, Dave & Ray and Ra-Ra, to get the spot sorta-filled.

Shout out to Dan the Man and Devon the Dude (when did you start calling yourself that?!), who also celebrated his birthday here!

(Photo: Ra Ra and Nate of Talk of DC with some ladies in Pose)

(Photo: Not sure what their purpose was...I see you Alicia C. and is that Miles in the background throwing up hooks?! lol. Luv it!)

If you've never been to Pose, I highly suggest to put it on your things to do. After getting lost in Oxon Hill for about 30 minutes (definitely should have followed the directions on the flyer...Google Maps won't get you there!), I drove up on the breathtaking complex that is the Gaylord National Resort. Gaylord is known for their extravagance (I stayed in one of their hotels in Tennessee...random I know) and although there's still a lot of construction to complete this $800 million project, it doesn't take away from Pose.

When I arrived, minutes before midnight there was a line of ladies outside all waiting to get in. Situated on the 18th floor of the hotel, the place wasn't crowded and never seemed to reach capacity but they held the line due to the fact that there were so many females trying/dying to get in...for one reason or another.

With one elevator that takes you to the main floor and another strictly for VIP/tables, you never could get a sense of where the real party was...of course everyone looked lovely (I don't think I saw a lady without a dress and heels on) and because of it...there was a lot of posin' up in Pose...yea that was kinda' corny but it's true.

Inside, Pose reminds me of something you'd see in Vegas or Miami...definitely forgot I was in the DMV for a minute. With great decor, big red lounge chairs and an outdoor deck, Pose has everything if you want to chill or get it poppin'.

One girl that did seem to get it poppin', maybe a little too much was Danyelle of Mane Passion...boo just straight hit the floor. I think I saw her bounce too when she hit the ground...it wasn't even funny. She kept it funky though and kept dancing and laughing it off...hope you're okay hon! :)

Santana Moss was chilling in VIP with a gawd awful doo rag stocking looking (I don't even know how to describe it) thing on his head...wow, you can't be serious. I guess you really are from Florida...anyway, he was taking pictures with fans and groupies alike. He was being real social and not stuck up like other party-goers and football players. I couldn't even name the football players that were there...I'll admit but they were in the building.

(Photo: Micaela M. (in the blue)...look out for her y'all...she's gonna be big!)

Overall the party had a lot of potential to be better than it was. With great looking people all there to have a good time, the party could have been better if there was a better DJ. I'm sorry DNA but there was never a set that gave back to back jams...he kinda' spaced them out periodically never giving people a chance to drop it likes its hot and keep droppin it...and he played the songs too long...I really wanted to do it House Party style and yell SWITCH a couple times.

Lastly, and I must say this...if you managed to find a boo here, Pose is the perfect place for club boo-loving. With the rooftop deck that gives breathtaking views of construction (lol) and the Potomac River, which is quite gorgeous. I was in luv. Pose also has private tables, complete with curtains for some party privacy.

I give it a solid B :)

p.s. Shout out to Sebastian B. of Shy Magazine  and Robert Pearl of Brownstyle.net for taking all the pics :)

Recap: Pandora at the Park Grand Opening

If you missed the 'grand opening' of The Park (920 14th Street NW) last night you better had had a darn good excuse. I did! I was with my ls celebrating her graduation! (Yeah Baby Fe!)...and the party continues tonight. Catch me if you can! :)

Anyway, during happy hour alone there was 500 people...no seriously, they ran out of that good food I was telling you about. Some called it 'just like Olives' others said 'this is how Love used to be when you couldn't even think about getting in looking busted'; still the DC socialites stepped it up and out for the grand opening!

And what helps is a good DJ who kept the crowd rocking all night long.

Spotted was Kwame Brown, former Washington Wizard who had bottles of Hennessy, Patron and bottles and bottles of Moet. He even gave a bottle to a girl celebrating her birthday at The Park. Must be nice...

See ya next Thursday! :)

LVMH Opens The Park at 14th

So LVMH and Triple Crown are opening The Park at Fourteenth (920 14th St NW) tonight. Although this spot has been around for a minute, they're having a big event tonight to celebrate this swanky spot.

With $5 cocktails and food between 5-7 PM...y'all they're going all out with the filet mignon, crab cakes, grilled jumbo shrimp and even blacken salmon for only FIVE DOLLARS. Now that's what I call saving your money during a recession! :)

RSVP here to get in free although I coulda' swore there was no cover for this place...

p.s. UMD graduates should come here...only if tomorrow's graduation isn't too early and the parents ain't complaining they haven't seen you...

*UPDATE* Apparently, approximately 2000 people have already RSVPd. Y'all need to stop sleeping and get there dumb early.

Pic Recap: Hotel Metropole at Olives DC | Happy Birthday Miles!! :)

For those of you complaining of always running into the same crowd, you shoulda' went to Olives (1600 K Street) last Saturday

(Photo:  A lot of new and old faces came out to celebrate the birthdays of Miles and Ray)

(Photo: I see you bruh! Miles, ladies and gentlemen!!)

Apparently, Brian Westbrook (Philly Eagles), Demetric Evans (Redskins), Visanthe Shiancoe (Vikings) and Chelsey Rodgers otherwise known as Miss DC USA (I met her in the bathroom at Mai Thai, very nice girl) all balled out and bought tables. Groupies and moupies, if you missed this then you missed out!

Look out for their next event in June...it's one you don't want to miss! :)
