Recap: Howard MBA's Celebrate at Love

Your girl is sad because she lost her memory card at Love (1350 Okie Street NW) on Friday night (I must have been having a good time...) but anyway...

With the National MBA Convention coming to a close, many out of town MBAers and even more Howard MBA students (or those trying to get into the program), mixed and mingled with some of the finest of black business.

Early into the night, each bar on the first floor, dedicated to a different kind of liquor (I liked the vodka bar, hated the Cruzan), was packed with patrons trying to get it in before the open bar closed. With so many familiar faces that were totally different from the regular DC socialites (does anybody else get bored with seeing the same people every week?), if you looked closely you might have even saw a BET or ESPN talking head.

By 10 PM, Love was actually on and poppin'. Sure, the convention crowd brought an older demographic to the place but still...I felt young and shiny (as my spec would say) so I felt alllll good! :) Shout out to the third floor.

Later on in the evening the Wizards did show up despite that touchy incident with DeShawn Stevenson months before.

Antawn...he has really worked on his 'deer in headlight' eyes when he takes pictures! You go boy!

Mini Recap: Current | The Grand Opening

The Grand Opening of Current (1215 CT. Ave. NW) went down on Labor Day successfully. I was told the party ended at 3 AM so of course I was a little disappointed when I showed up at 2 AM and everybody was walking out...

Oh well, I tried.

Socialites inside said it was definitely a good effort and a good time although the DJ "sucked in the beginning and then got better [toward the end of the night]". Also, "[They] gave white wristbands to pretty people who were then allowed on the second floor".

Some local celebs also showed up:

Andray Blatche of the Washington Wizards

Roger Mason, formerly of the Washington Wizards

Congrats to Dave & Ray and The Standard! :)

Roger Mason Signs with Spurs and Raises Money

Yesterday, former Washington Wizard Roger Mason, who recently signed with the San Antonio Spurs a couple weeks ago, hosted a charity event at Lucky Strike in Chinatown, raising money for the National Kidney Foundation.

His former teammates were definitely in the building...

Mason showing love to his fans...that's wassup. See? I don't always say negative things... :)

p.s. The after party was held at Shadow Room (2131 K Street NW)

Vernon Davis Celeb Weekend | Layla Lounge | H20 | Republic

Carl Thomas and the most going out engaged man ever Roger Mason will be hosting H20 (800 Water Street SW) tonight.

One of the hottest tickets tonight is a new spot, Layla Lounge (501 Morse Street NE). It's part of Vernon Davis' Celebrity Weekend, which means you'll probably see b-list celebs like Serena Williams, Vernon's former Terrapin teammate Shawne Merriman, his 49ers teammates Moran Norris, Delaine Walker, Kentwan Balmer and Ray McDonald, Playboy Model Joy Glass, Dawn of Danity Kane (will she have new weave?), Big Tigger, Kevin Durant and many more.

Also, Republic Gardens (1355 U Street NW) is opening back up to reclaim its post on the U Street scene. It's kind of remodeled, I heard the pool table is gone (Noooo! That was one of its best features) but the groove should be the same. This is another hot ticket...don't come here busted!

Lastly, check out these spots if you just want to have a good time away from too many socialites: Sidelines (800 Capital Center Blvd, Largo, MD), Tabaq Lounge (1336 U Street NW) and Penang (1837 M Street NW).

Not a Recap: All White Party at Pose Ultra Lounge

Yea, it's not a recap because I didn't get in! By 12:30 AM the "line" or should I say mob to get into Pose Ultra Lounge (201 Waterfront Street) was total mayhem, so much so that approximately 20 minutes later (in heels time, it felt like an hour) the club was "shut down" and three not-scary lookin' police officers yelled for people to go home. No one budged.

They were still letting people in and everyone else either gave up or began plotting on how to fake as if they had a table...too much.

I'm not quite sute if it's worth all the hype...but it is a sight to see, so make sure you put it on your to do list. Just make sure you get there before 11 PM (I know...that's early right?)

Still, here are some pics from the event thanks to Sebastian:

Pic Recap: Tigger's All Star Basketball Game

It must have been the hottest spot in DC and not because of all the socialites, celebs and reporters/bloggers in the building. It was just HOT! In UDC's gymnasium (can we invest in central air conditioning please?!), the "Wizards" went up against the "Baltimore Bullets" to raise money and support Big Tigger's 7th Annual Celebrity Classic.

(Photo: The Wizards. Caron Butler, Tiffany Evans and Mellysa Ford were coaches)

(Photo: The Bullets. Roger Mason, Alesha Renee and 106 and Park's Rocsi (since when did she become so hood? Please stop.) were coaches)

(Photo: Tiffany Evans (also performed at half time...hilarious footage to come) poses with One Tree Hill's Antwon Tanner)

(Photo: Vernon Davis poses with Smack Energy Bar girls)

(Photo: Look who popped up? Free where you been? She looks hot.)

(Photo: Melyssa Ford trying her best not to look sweated out)

(Photo: Roger Mason showing love to a fan)

(Photo: Big Tigger interviewing Terrell Owens for his show "Rap City")

(Photo: Alesha Renee is pretty...)

(Photo: Fred Smoot and Freaky Ty get close...a little too close)

No one really cared who won...by the time everybody left we were just looking for the nearest air conditioner and snowball.

Carlos Rogers, Santana Moss, Fred Smoot, Roger Mason, Andray Blatche and Johnny Eubanks were all spotted at Josephines (1008 Vermont Ave) last night. So many ballers...hope there were enough groupies.

And this is for Sasha: my new friends over at DCCityBlog reviewed this spot a couple of months ago...and I find their review quite comical...check it out!
