Halloween Parties!

Halloween is fast approaching and I am a total big kid; I love Halloween (partly because my mom never really let me celebrate it during my childhood...boo on her!). Anyway, here are some fun and traditional ideas to celebrate Halloween in the DMV:

DC Fab! Girl on Halloween circa 2007

>> The Usual Suspectz are hosting a costume party at Club 24 (2122 24th Street NE) on Friday night. The winner of the best costume will receive $500 so don't sleep (I've already bought my costumeeeee!) This party is 18+. Click here for more details.

>> To start Halloween off right, Fur (33 Patterson Street NE) is hosting a Thursday night party complete with open bar from 9-10 PM. Everybody is free until 11 PM and the party is hosted by WKYS' Angie Ange (I swear I saw her walking across Farrugut Park the other day). Click here for more details.

>> If you're on that recession diet, head to Republic (1355 U Street NW) because it's FREE all night! That's right folks...but you must RSVP here.

>>Also, I must shout out the commenter who really made me see the light about Love (1350 Okie Street NW). That's just it, if you liked Love 3-5 years ago, you really shouldn't be going there now. Let the kiddies enjoy it. Dag...and I thought I was grown partying in Love 3-5 years ago. I guess, I'll let Love die. But if you're not willing to let it go, head there and get in free with a costume all night. They're hosting a 4th floor costume party. The winner will recieve $1000 in bottle service (that's a lot of liquor).

>>Pure (1326 U Street NW) is also having a recession-friendly party with ladies free until 12 and fellas free before 11. Click here to make that happen! Oh! And $100 plus a bottle of champagne for the best costume! :)

If you're not into partying on Halloween (who are you?!)...just kidding, here are some fun alternatives:

>> Go to Fright Fest at Six Flags America in Largo. It's open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night until 10 PM. Get tickets here.

>>Pick out a pumpkin at a nearby pumpkin patch! This is one of my favorite things to do around this season (partly because I couldn't dress up as a child so this is all we did...). Click here to find one near you! :)

>>Go on a haunted train ride. I've never done this but I reallllly reallly want to. Sounds like a fun date. Go on a creepy carousel and a haunted hayride in Wheaton. Click here for more info!

Professionals at Penang

We had a ball there last week...

And tonight, The Usual Suspectz and Cheeky Sasso are having their "On the Yard" Party Series at Penang (1837 M Street NW).

They're asking anyone pursuing their medical degree, their JD or just plain ole' going to grad school to come out and let loose before school begins. And if you ain't in school to get that advanced degree (like myself) then just go and get someone who is! Heeey...lol.

A Tribe Called Best at Station 9

Station 9 is a great place for those people who don' t like big clubs...or small clubs for that matter. Tonight, some of my fav promoters are getting together to do something special. DJ Top Choice will be on the tables bringing a party called "A Tribe Called Best" so I hope Top Choice plays the 80s classics (lol, sike, what I know about 80s classics? I was born in 8?).

Anyway, The Usual Suspectz, Cheeky and Crocodile's Tear will all be in the building.

To see other recaps of Station 9 click here and here

p.s. This is for the grown and fab...bump sexy :)

Try these: Station 9 | Pasha | Mayorga Cafe

So I told you everybody was throwing something this weekend...and I wasn't lying. Here are Friday night's options:

>>> At Station 9 (1438 U Street NW), the Usual Suspectz (shout out to Brandon!) are throwing a posh, polite and professional party. It will probably be more like a happy hour. Go here if you're into the lounge scene. On the second floor they have these great seating areas to sip and look cute. DJ Cuzzin B (WHO IS ON POINT!) and DJ Top Choice will be on the 1s and 2s. Also, you might have a chance to win 2 VIP tickets to The Glow in the Dark Tour.

>>> The Talk of DC (Hi Nate!) is taking over Pasha (2147 P Street NW) once again on a Friday night. It's called the "Bad Girls Party Part 2" and they're celebrating the Bison graduates with giveaways for ladies and $5 Patron shots. RSVP here to get in free! DJ Goldenboy told me it popped last Friday so go and find out. (How's your ankle boo?)

>>> Also, Chris M. has been texting me like crazy about what he likes to call the sexiest party on Friday. It's Mayorga Cafe & Lounge (3301 14th Street)...not to be confused with The Park at 14th...although their party is called 14th and Park. I still find that so weird.

Recap: RnR Bar and Lounge | Thursday Night's

Yesterday, I slid through RnR Bar and Lounge (717 6th Street NW) which is conveniently located directly across from the Verizon Center

By 12:30 AM, I thought we should have trouble finding parking...I mean it is close to Chinatown and it can get a bit crazy down there...but oh no, we had a plethora of spots to choose from (my first notification that it wasn't going to be packed)...

After closing my finger in my car door (that's not for this blog) and reciting "pain is a matter of mind over matter", I shimmied into RnR (in my work clothes no less!).

(Photo: Felicia, VideoFab! Correspondent with DCFab! Girl at RnR)

Okay enough about me, let me break this place down. Go here post game if you're in jeans and a t-shirt that you don't really care about. Go here if you want a strong drink to cap your night off (they aren't cheap with liquor!). It kinda' reminded me of a College Park bar in the middle of DC. Don't expect cleanliness as far as the bar is concerned...I really think the bartender was more intoxicated than I was!

Shout out to DJ Cuzzin B. OMG...he didn't play one bad song! Luuuuv him. Also, shout out to my girl Anna who was doing a good job of keeping my mind off of my finger, which was pulsating in pain. She was singing her little heart out to the songs...I thought I was at a concert for a second.

Shout out to the neos of the IZ Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. who probated last night and celebrated here...

I'd go again; just not in my work clothes and not in my pearls...sorry.

The Nupes and Kustom Looks at RnR

Our friends The Usual Suspectz (shouts out to Brandon) with J&K Productions always try to do something a little different on Thursdays. This Thursday they're inviting the Nupes to come kick it at this laid back venue...RnR (717 6th Street NW)...

Complete with a trunk show (this is kind of random) by Kustom Looks and free champagne for the ladies (only from 9-10 PM) you may as well stop by if you didn't get enough of whatever it is to get you over hump day.

Thursday Night | Pure | 1223| R and R Lounge

I'll admit, last night's Happy Hours were a bust around town. So we'll try again tonight. Here are some spots to check out:

Pure (1326 U Street NW) and Street Dreams Entertainment are having 2 for 1 Cosmos and Apple Martinis again. Ladies free until 11 PM.

1223 (1223 CT Ave. NW) has an open bar from 9 - 11 PM. Now that's what I call a happy hour! :)

The Usual Suspectz along with J&K are bringing DC's own Kokayi to R&R Lounge (717 6th St. NW) tonight. He'll be on at 8 PM. Ladies, they have a martini open bar from 8 - 9 PM. Check out Kokayi's style below:

Mardi Gras at Liv on U St.

If you're looking to start Mardi Gras off right...I'm not so sure you can do it at Liv (2003 11th Street NW)...I'm sorry but I hate this spot. I just never have a good time and I can't believe they charge people $20 to get in...

Whatevs, last time I went a nice old man let me slide because it was past 1 o'clock and seriously, I just don't know if it's worth it.

Still, my boy Brandon with the Usual Suspectz will probably pack this place out. And if you do decide to go, make your way up to the second floor and chill out... oh yea, open bar until 11 and they're giving away an iPod nano (a video one?)!

MLK Weekend Continued | Trendsetters at Cafe Asia | The Park | The Lounge at Station 9

The Third Annual Movers, Shakers & Tastemakers event is poppin' off on Sunday (1.20.08)! Chee Chee & Cheeky along with The Usual Suspectz (shout to to Brandon!) among others are hosting this event at The Lounge @ Station 9 (1438 U Street NW)...never been here but it's a U Street establishment so it should be okay. Sources tell me it actually used to be the old Post Office building so it's very big with high ceilings...kinda hot. See pic below:

A portion of the proceeds will go to the MLK Memorial being built on the National Mall, so it's a good cause. Check it out, if you're not too worn out from Saturday night.

CORRECTION:
So a new entertainment group is trying to take over Cafe Asia (1720 Eye Street) on Sunday (1.20.08). I guess the owners are getting greedy but Charles and Lanre of Trendsetterz Ent. are throwing a party on DT's stomping groups called One Night Stand.

Promising a good time, Charles says there will be a lot of giveaways, Angie Ange from WKYS will be in the building and he says, "when the guests come in they'll have something nice waiting for them". I tried to squeeze more info outta' him but that's all he would tell me.

It's the young party thrower's first solo event. Charles of TE grew up in PG County and attends Morgan State...he's bringing a lot of his Bmore crew with him to Northwest DC this Sunday.

Find out for yourself. It's free before 11 if your RSVP here.

---

This is not a Fab! endorsed event but I won't lie and say I'm not curious. The Park at 14th (920 14th St. NW) is truly a gorgeous venue but the crowd is typically...shall we say, less than brown, which isn't a problem but if you're looking to thug it out...don't come here.
