Obama Victory Parties...keep the party going...

Many have asked where can I shake a tailfeather to celebrate Barack's win...well, I'm actually about to go on a good ole' fashioned ROAAAAAAAAAD TRIIIIIIIIP but wanted to give you the skinny before I head out on the great American road:

Thursday:

>>> Tonight, Sayo is trying something new at Sesto Senso (1214 18th Street NW) where ladies get in free all night. I've never been so try it at your own risk...

>>> Of course, a staple now in the swanky nightlife scene, The Park (920 14th Street) is having a victory party. Also, this Thursday they will also be hosting a premiere party for BET's hit series Keyshia Cole's "The Way It Is" Season 3.

>>> Cheeky has turned his 'first Thursday' party at Jin (2017 14th Street NW) to an Obamamania party at Jin. Doors open at 7. It's a nice chill spot to go after work for a round or two.

RSVP Now: Congressional Black Caucus Events

It's one of my favorite times of the year. And although the entire week consists of workshops, great lectures and the like, this is a socialite's blog so I'll just highlight the really good events/receptions (not the ones that require an RSVP, sorry) but I'll give you the skinny on the events open to the general public:

>> WED: Young and Powerful: The Final Count Down at The Park at Fourteenth (920 14th Street NW)is a network and fundraising event for Presidential hopeful Barack Obama. RSVP here. From 6-9 PM there will be an open bar with appetizers served. Special invited guests include Mayor Adrian Fenty, Congresswoman Donna Edwards and Jeff Johnson, to name a few.

>>THURS: The Talented Tenth presents the "Nation's Young and Powerful Reception" at Jin (2017 14th Street NW) from 6-9 PM. RSVP here. Afterward, head to The Black Party at Ibiza (1222 First St. NE). The party goes until 1 AM.

>> FRI: Be Seen at Love (1350 Okie Street NW) where the reception starts at 6 PM. RSVP here.

>>SAT: The Movemakers and NBLSA are having a party called Be Powerful. It will go down at Layla Lounge (501 Morse Street NE). Doors open at 9 PM.

Kick off the Redskins Season!

Okay, I'll admit I am soooo not a Redskins fan! Don't look at me like that...half of y'all aren't either.

Still, I may watch the Redskins take on the NY Giants tonight. Here are some good spots to catch the game:

>>> The Park (920 14th Street NW) is hosting it's regular Thursday night affair. $5 cocktails from 5-7 PM. Too bad Dave & Ray won't be there anymore...tear.

>>> Jin (2017 14th Street) is also hosting something with pre-kickoff drink specials from 5-8 PM and 1/2 off appetizers.

>>>Adams Morgan! I love putting on a t-shirt, jeans and flats and not caring about what I look like...grabbing a good Blue Moon or Corona and watching the game. Head to any bar down here. Shout out to Evolve (1817 Columbia Rd. NW) who has a great big flat screen right above the bar and the owner makes a mean drink! :)

The Park or Jin for Thursday Drinks

Of course the party is at The Park (920 14th Street NW). It's a great deal: $5 cocktails and $10 entrees until 7 PM. To read about what goes down here, click on this.

Cheeky is having first Thursdays at Jin (2017 14th Street), a nice U Street establishment. Happy hour until 8:30 PM but the party goes deep into the night.

And for the 18 and older crew, Ibiza (1222 First Street NE) is poppin' off tonight. The 21 and over crew might wanna come here to get the open bar on the rooftop from 11-12 AM. That's wassup. But why are girls kissing on this flier?!

p.s. Everybody look at this Web site: New Rupublic DC. The ish is kinda' hot. I like the gallery.

Fourth of July Fun | Thursday Events

BUT! Before I leave...of course I had to give you the rundown of what's poppin' while I'm away! (Be sure to send me all you comments, concerns, disappointments and praises of parties while I'm gone!)

Lookin' for something easy on the pockets? Try free! K Street Lounge (1301 K Street) is having a customer appreciation night thanks to The Usual Suspectz and J&K

Thursday night Cheeky is making Jin (2017 14th Street NW) pop off to get you ready for the "high holiday" (lol).  From 8-10 PM he'll have "vodka sampling" whatever that means. I mean the real question is, is that open bar or not?! :)

Of course, The Park (920 14th Street NW) has it's regular party going on...which should be more live than last week. Oh yea, $5 entrees are more like $10 entrees, don't be fooled. Still, it's a great crowd in a great atmosphere.

Station 9 (1438 U Street NW) looks very promising this week. HBO Def Poetry poet Asia (I don't remember him) will be in the building and they'll have drink specials and the like. Go here for a very chill evening although I heard on Saturday it was the 40 and older crowd in the building. Double boo.

For a more 'international' crowd, head to H20 (800 Water Street). They're having something for the Fourth of July holiday too.

It's my friend Danielle's favorite time of year...it's the NBA Finals and it's down to Paul Pierce v. Kobe Bryant.

DC has some great places to watch the game:

> Try out The Park at 14th (920 14th Street NW) Doors open at 5 PM with $5 cocktails and appetizers until 7 PM. For a table click here! After the game, jam to DJ Oz until 2:30 AM.

> Ibiza (1222 First Street NE) is all about the 18 and over crew tonight. Doors open at 9 PM so you may miss some of the game but at least they have $6 cosmopolitans all night.

> Chee Chee is hosting a happy hour at Jin (2017 14th Street). Come here early to get a spot...the place isn't that big. The game will be on here too! :)

Chee Chee and Cheeky | First Thursday's | Jin Lounge

High off the life after his last party, Cheeky Sasso Ent. along with Chee Chee are taking over Jin Lounge (14th and U Streets NW) tonight.

This professional happy hour, sponsored by Level Vodka features discounted apps and free vodka...they even have a belly dancing troupe (???) to mesmerize the employees from Fannie Mae, Lockheed Martin and the government (I hate how all government employees talk in acronyms...like I know what means!!)

DCFab!'s Friday Night Picks:

Aight peoples...sorry if you checked earlier and nothing was here. Momma was out handling her growns folks things -- getting my hair done :) I had a pamper-me-Friday. You gotta do that sometimes. Shout out to my sister who pampered herself too much today. Luv u too. (she prob not even reading this lol...okay I'm done)

I don't know about Friday nights in DC but I'm hardly impressed. It looks like the major clubs are offering a good time.

Love (1350 Okie Street) is having their usual Friday night party. I gotta shout out Marc & Taz for throwing a good party for Caron Butler yesterday.

H20 (8oo Water Street SW) is giving ladies free admission until midnight. They even have open bar from 9-11 if you get on the guest list. Click here boo.

Ibiza (1222 First Street NE) is trying to repeat what they created last weekend. I don't know if you can top a Missy Elliott performance and my fav morning drive-time funny man Russ Parr, but why don't you help them try tonight.

It was such a puuuurty day, so if this isn't your thing why don't you try wandering around U Street. My fav spots to chill are Jin, Mocha Hut, Tabaq and Pure.

That's all.

Recap: Jin on 14th and U | Dave and Ray at Mezza Luna

Last Friday, I celebrated a Fab! chick's birthday, Aminata (my lil hoe...inside joke).

We partied at Jin (14th and U St. NW). Like most typical U Street spots, Jin is small but unlike venues such as Republic Gardens (R.I.P), Jin is a little more upscale.

With comfy couches and even comfier (Remy Martin) pillows, this place is great for a happy hour or if you'd like to go out with a group of friends.

The DJ excludes himself, as he plays from a balcony...but he wasn't that good anyway. You may not 'drink and two step' here...but you'll definitely drink and chill.

I'd go back.

------------------------------------------------------

On the same night, a couple streets away, Dave and Ray along with other promoters had their party, "Babes in Toyland" at Mezza Luna (1140 19th St. NW).

Now...I know it's supposed to be called Babes in Toyland but...where were the toys? It seems like everyone had a Bah, humbug spirit, because these party people didn't bring many toys to donate for Toys for Tots. Next year?...maybe?

Anyway, Mezza Luna is an unassuming spot that isn't too flashy. I must say this party was a bit urban...and I didn't think you could bring urban to 19th and M (with spots like Mai Thai and Penang bringing a grown and sexy crowd...this crowd was more like grown and hood) but the girls were dancing and guys were hawkin' so they must have been doing something right.

Here's a taste of what you missed:
