Y'all I haven't even started shopping for Christmas yet...not like I have any money anyway but that's besides the point. If you're interested in blowing some more cash then head to these hot spots tonight:

> Station 9 (1438 U Street NW) is having their usual Saturday night party with dinner and cocktails starting at 8 PM. RSVP here to get in free before 11:59 PM. Read a recap here!

> Lux Lounge (649 New York Ave. NW) -- have you been there since the renovations? -- is having what they call at Christmas Party hosted by the Wizards' Caron Butler. Also, Lana of KIS models is making her premiere in DC tonight (Lana is Konan of 92.3 FM's fiancĂ©e).

> The Republic is celebrating the AKA's Centennial Year coming to an end. Congrats ladies! 95.5 will be broadcasting live from here tonight and Kelechi, former ATL Fab! dude is celebrating here tonight as well. Happy Birthday! Oh yea, they have $1 drinks from 10 -11 PM and $5 appetizers until 11 PM. For more info click here.

> The Dallas Mavericks, specifically Jason Terry, Jerry Stackhouse and Josh Howard will be in Layla Lounge (501 Morse Street NE) tonight. Please read our recap from last week. Layla has definitely fell off. For more info click here.

Talk of DC is doing something different at Station 9 (1438 U Street NW). The party goes until 2 but get there early for drinks and appetizers from 9-11 PM. It's free before midnight and I heard Howard Law will be in the building. Click here to get on the guestlist.

One of my favorite photogs, Anwaa Kong is celebrating his birthday at Nori Lounge (3301 14th St NW). It's free before 12 if you get on the guestlist!! Happy Birthday Anwaaaaaa!!!!

The Republic (1355 U Street NW) is hosting Velocity Magazine Award's after party. Aladdin from 95.5 will be hyping the crowd. The party goes until 3 AM. Click here to get in free! :)

Election Night Parties

A great reader of DC Fab! asked that I put up Election Night events now (because unlike me, some people do like to plan ahead for these types of historical things) and I told her I would so here it is:

Shadow Room (2131 K Street NW) is having an Election Night event from 7 PM to until. See flyer here.

Young and Powerful for Obama is hosting "Live your Life: The Moment of Truth...Election Night Watch Party" at The Park at Fourteenth (920 14th Street NW) from 6 PM to until. RSVP is strongly recommended!

DC for Obama is hosting a watch party at Station 9 (1438 U Street NW). General admission is free and VIP is $20 (not quite sure what VIP gets you). See flyer here.

The Usual Suspectz are hosting an election watch party at The Republic (1355 U Street NW). Doors open at 5:30 PM. They'll have drinks specials and appetizers available (although unless you're on the first floor there isn't much space to sit down and eat). Still, RSVP here.

Doug E. Fresh at Republic | Mai Thai | Station 9 | Layla

There's plenty of things to do tonight but here are my top four:

Doug E. Fresh, the king of old school, will be at Republic (1355 U Street NW) tonight. DJ Trini will be on the tables and everyone is free before midnight!

I can't call it the new hot spot yet but it is a new spot. Much like a smaller...much smaller Love, Layla Lounge (501 Morse Street NE) is open tonight for the socialite crowd. Let's hope they get it poppin' this weekend!

Sayo and crew are back at Mai Thai (1200 19th Street NW). And with an open bar until midnight it doesn't get any better than this tonight. Click here to see pics of previous parties.

Station 9 (1438 U Street, NW) is a great establishment in a very chill neighborhood. Everyone is free until midnight but you have to RSVP. Come here if you have a large group of friends and if you're prepared to make your own party. If you want to booty pop on a handstand...don't come here! :)

Fourth of July Fun | Thursday Events

BUT! Before I leave...of course I had to give you the rundown of what's poppin' while I'm away! (Be sure to send me all you comments, concerns, disappointments and praises of parties while I'm gone!)

Lookin' for something easy on the pockets? Try free! K Street Lounge (1301 K Street) is having a customer appreciation night thanks to The Usual Suspectz and J&K

Thursday night Cheeky is making Jin (2017 14th Street NW) pop off to get you ready for the "high holiday" (lol).  From 8-10 PM he'll have "vodka sampling" whatever that means. I mean the real question is, is that open bar or not?! :)

Of course, The Park (920 14th Street NW) has it's regular party going on...which should be more live than last week. Oh yea, $5 entrees are more like $10 entrees, don't be fooled. Still, it's a great crowd in a great atmosphere.

Station 9 (1438 U Street NW) looks very promising this week. HBO Def Poetry poet Asia (I don't remember him) will be in the building and they'll have drink specials and the like. Go here for a very chill evening although I heard on Saturday it was the 40 and older crowd in the building. Double boo.

For a more 'international' crowd, head to H20 (800 Water Street). They're having something for the Fourth of July holiday too.

A Tribe Called Best at Station 9

Station 9 is a great place for those people who don' t like big clubs...or small clubs for that matter. Tonight, some of my fav promoters are getting together to do something special. DJ Top Choice will be on the tables bringing a party called "A Tribe Called Best" so I hope Top Choice plays the 80s classics (lol, sike, what I know about 80s classics? I was born in 8?).

Anyway, The Usual Suspectz, Cheeky and Crocodile's Tear will all be in the building.

To see other recaps of Station 9 click here and here

p.s. This is for the grown and fab...bump sexy :)

Memorial Day 08: Your Friday Night

YEAH!!...not only do we have a four day weekend, we're also supposed to have lovely weather over Memorial Day weekend. I'll be in Boston (...y'all know I can't sit still) but you've been asking me (thanks for your patience)...and I finally have my top picks (in no particular order of course) for your Friday night party! :)

(Photo: Me and my girls last Memorial Day spent in Dade County...that song was hot then)

Pasha (2147 P Street NW) is continuing their Friday night party into Memorial Day weekend. Hosted by The Talk of DC, you'll get in free before 11 PM. I know everyone wants to celebrate their graduation this weekend and Pasha has tables going for $350-$1000 (wow...$1000!...that's a bit much for Pasha)...at least they have $5 patron and ciroc before 11.

G4 is continuing to pop back on the scene at Mai Thai (1200 19th Street NW). A loooot of UMDers will be celebrating their graduations here so if you know somebody that knows somebody perhaps you'll be acting a fool here. Shout out to my DC Fab! correspondent Aminata and Video Fab! correspondent Felicia on their graduation! :) One of my fav DJs will be on the 1s and 2s, DJ KI so the music will be good. I don't know for some reason I foresee people dancing on couches...hmmm...Oh yea, it's free until midnight. *UPDATE*: G4 Scott says, "If you don't get a bad chick's number tonight, I'll give you your money back!!". Please take him up on his offer. :)

So who isn't promoting Mayorga Cafe (3301 14th Street NW)? Some of your favs will be in the building this Friday at this nice spot hidden in Columbia Heights. I was supposed to check it out last week but then my sinuses were effin' my swag up so I stayed in the house...still, I hear a lot of ladies were in the place...almost too many. Fellas, you may find your number one fan here.

Chee Chee and Cheeky bring out an older, more professional crowd to Station 9 (1438 U Street NW). Station 9 has great areas for lounging and enjoying a cocktail. Don't expect things to pop off too much here...although the flyer says they'll "crank that Soulja Boy"...hmm I doubt it...It's $10 and the party is on the second floor.

Stay fab y'all! :)

p.s. Have y'all heard the new Common and Pharell song?! It's bumpin! Get it here!

Try these: Station 9 | Pasha | Mayorga Cafe

So I told you everybody was throwing something this weekend...and I wasn't lying. Here are Friday night's options:

>>> At Station 9 (1438 U Street NW), the Usual Suspectz (shout out to Brandon!) are throwing a posh, polite and professional party. It will probably be more like a happy hour. Go here if you're into the lounge scene. On the second floor they have these great seating areas to sip and look cute. DJ Cuzzin B (WHO IS ON POINT!) and DJ Top Choice will be on the 1s and 2s. Also, you might have a chance to win 2 VIP tickets to The Glow in the Dark Tour.

>>> The Talk of DC (Hi Nate!) is taking over Pasha (2147 P Street NW) once again on a Friday night. It's called the "Bad Girls Party Part 2" and they're celebrating the Bison graduates with giveaways for ladies and $5 Patron shots. RSVP here to get in free! DJ Goldenboy told me it popped last Friday so go and find out. (How's your ankle boo?)

>>> Also, Chris M. has been texting me like crazy about what he likes to call the sexiest party on Friday. It's Mayorga Cafe & Lounge (3301 14th Street)...not to be confused with The Park at 14th...although their party is called 14th and Park. I still find that so weird.

Pic Recap: The Black Professional Network DC Happy Hour

So remember I told you about a happy hour last Thursday (3.27.08) at Station 9 (click here if it's not ringing bells) I didn't mention that it was hosted by The Black Professional Network of DC. Still, here are some pics below:

Fab! note: Thanks to Oyebode Fajobi for the photos!

I luv to see brown people doing their thing! Stay fab y'all! :)

Thursday Night Happy Hours

Okay so I dragged myself outta' bed this morning, had some morning car troubles (argh!)...got into work around 12 noon and have been catching up ever since, all the while wanting to pull out my hair ever since (but I didn't cuz I like my curls!). So it looks like we all need to go to happy hour tonight. The best places to check out are:

> For a nice chill but professional  happy hour, hop over to Station 9 (1438 U Street NW) between 6 and 9 PM. I really like this place...walk up the steps to the second floor when you get there.

> If that's not your scene, go down the street to Pure (1326 U Street NW), formerly Barnun for their happy hour. Yo, people be rockin' in here...dancing like it's Friday. Two levels, I like the top one to chill and the bottom one to party. This party goes until 2 AM.

> Your best bet is 1223 (1223 CT. Ave. NW) from 9-11 PM; it's open bar! (See recap from last week) Guys have to be 21 and are free until 11 and ladies only have to be 18 (hmmm) and are free until 12. My favs will be on the tables: DJ Goldenboy and 'The Hotboy' DJ Quicksilva! Go see for yourself.

Aiight luvs; I'll be around tonight (you already know)...

Recap: Social Etiquette at Station 9 Lounge

If you've never been to Station 9 (14th and U St. NW), put it on your things 'to do'. I dropped by this renovated post office building last Friday (2.1.08) where RS Entertainment with G'love Productions made a quiet entrance into DC nightlife (they usually throw parties in Baltimore).

(Photo: Godlove of G'love Productions and Brian of RS Entertainment)

Station 9 isn't for those who want to bump and grind...if you're looking for a chill yet entertaining evening, bring some choice friends or your boo here. They had free house wine (I heard it was nasty) but y'all know I'm not a wine drinker and I was very disapointed when they ran out of martini glasses and asked me if I minded if my apple martini was in a regular glass...yessssss.

(Photo: People chillin' on the unique lounge furniture at Station 9)

The DJ played something for everyone because this crowd is definitely mixed but no one seemed to mind. From the oldies but goodies to a hint of Baltimore club to hip-hop tunes like "Sensual Seduction" and yes, he even played the Cupid Shuffle...it was def a good time.

(Photo: Loungin' at Station 9)

Helpful hints if you want to try this place out: Parking will take you a minute but they have valet...the kitchen closes at midnight I hear so if you're looking to snack come earlier...and ladies you can wear those stilettos because there's plenty of spots to chill...come in and walk to the 2nd floor!

Everyone FREE at Station 9 Lounge on U St.

So if you're sick of doing the same ole' 2-step, hop over to Station 9 Lounge (1438 U Street) this Friday (2.1.08). This is the newest hot spot on U Street(you remember, Cheeky did an event there a couple weeks ago) and the place is quite nice.

I wonder if this party will be on the first floor or second...but regardless you should have a good time. With unique lounge chairs and the cutest martini glasses (the ones without the stem) you're bound to have a grown and sexy time.

Shout out to RS Entertainment and G'love Productions (Ain't y'all from Bmore???)!!

Wednesday Night | Level 2 at Play | K Street | Station 9

It's Wednesday right...and are looking for something to get you over that hump?

Well, check out Level 2 @ Play (1219 CT Ave. NW)...last week was their grand opening and mad heads came out, even J. Holiday (he's everywhere these days). They're even giving out tickets to the DC Auto Show so go see for yourself...

(Photo: J. Holiday and Nate at Play's Grand Opening)

[ Photo: A packed Play...and look who I see in the bottom left corner? :) ]

Other spots I'd recommend tonight are K Street Lounge (1301 K St. NW) from 6-8 and anytime after 10ish and also tonight the Business Network Reception Series (BNRS) will be held at Station 9 Lounge (1438 U St. NW) from 6-9. Guest speaker William Teel, CEO of 1 Source Consulting, Inc. & Energy Enterprise Solutions, LLC will give a talk along with food and drinks.

MLK Weekend Continued | Trendsetters at Cafe Asia | The Park | The Lounge at Station 9

The Third Annual Movers, Shakers & Tastemakers event is poppin' off on Sunday (1.20.08)! Chee Chee & Cheeky along with The Usual Suspectz (shout to to Brandon!) among others are hosting this event at The Lounge @ Station 9 (1438 U Street NW)...never been here but it's a U Street establishment so it should be okay. Sources tell me it actually used to be the old Post Office building so it's very big with high ceilings...kinda hot. See pic below:

(Photo: Outside of Station 9)

(Photo: Interior of Station 9)

A portion of the proceeds will go to the MLK Memorial being built on the National Mall, so it's a good cause. Check it out, if you're not too worn out from Saturday night.

---
CORRECTION:
So a new entertainment group is trying to take over Cafe Asia (1720 Eye Street) on Sunday (1.20.08). I guess the owners are getting greedy but Charles and Lanre of Trendsetterz Ent. are throwing a party on DT's stomping groups called One Night Stand.

Promising a good time, Charles says there will be a lot of giveaways, Angie Ange from WKYS will be in the building and he says, "when the guests come in they'll have something nice waiting for them". I tried to squeeze more info outta' him but that's all he would tell me.

It's the young party thrower's first solo event. Charles of TE grew up in PG County and attends Morgan State...he's bringing a lot of his Bmore crew with him to Northwest DC this Sunday.

Find out for yourself. It's free before 11 if your RSVP here.

---

This is not a Fab! endorsed event but I won't lie and say I'm not curious. The Park at 14th (920 14th St. NW) is truly a gorgeous venue but the crowd is typically...shall we say, less than brown, which isn't a problem but if you're looking to thug it out...don't come here.

For more info, check out their website here.
