Can A Sista Rock A Mic? Festival

Starting today and ending on Saturday with a free festival in downtown Silver Spring on Ellsworth Drive, the 4th Annual CASRAM Festival is D.C.s only all-female live music festival. And it's my kind of music...good, soulful, different and up and coming! :)

The line up:

Oct. 8: Bohemian Caverns (2001 11th St. NW) featuring N'Dambi (she sung background for Erykah Badu), D.C. native Tamara Wellons, and HU alumna April Hill. Get tickets now for $15. Show starts at 7.

N'Dambi

Oct. 9: Bohemian Caverns (2001 11th St. NW) featuring newcomers Bless Roxwell, Ra the MC, OP Swamp 81, Eagle Nebula, and TK Wonder with Taylor McFerri. Think progressive...think alternative...think hip-hop. Tickets are $10. Show starts at 7.

Taylor McFerrin

Oct. 10: It's a don't miss event at The Republic (1355 U St. NW) with great up and coming female singers like Toronto's Ayah, Liv Warfield and DC's own Alison Carney and YahZarah. Do y'all remember Zhane? Well Jean Baylor(the light skinned one) will be rockin' the mic too. Hosted by one of our favorites W. Ellington Felton. $15 in advance, 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 11: The festival shuts down in downtown Silver Spring (Ellsworth Drive) with performances by MC Emoni Fela, R&B artist Emily King, Angela Johnson, Josephine Silla, New York duo Nola Darling, Dehejia Maat, Yoko K./aphrodizia, Deborah Bond, Ne’a Posey, and Teisha Marie. It's free and it starts at 4 PM.
