I can't even believe it but K-Swift, known to Baltimorians as Khia, passed away this weekend from a "swimming pool accident".
*UPDATED* Apparently, she had been drinking extensively at a pool party when she dove head first into the pool and hit her head. None of the other swimmers were immediately alarmed when she didn't resurface right away. But after a couple of moments and she still didn't resurface, people jumped in but no one performed CPR while they awaited a medic to arrive at the scene. She was taken to Good Samaritan where she was pronounced dead. She was only 28 years old and one of the pioneers of Baltimore Club Music in Baltimore known as the Club Queen.
My favorite memory of K-Swift is when she used to DJ at Hammerjacks on Sunday nights for the 17 and older crew.
She has undoubtedly given many young girls hope when it comes to being a DJ; her most recent stint was a DJ at Baltimore's hip hop station 92Q...she was definitely taken before her time. She will be missed.
