New U Street Hotspot: Marvin

(Photo: RollingStone)

One of the newest bars on U Street is paying homage to one of R&B's greatest baby-making soul men, Marvin. This bistro/lounge is located near 14th and U Streets and recently opened four weeks ago (they don't even have a sign yet).

The establishment is owned by Eric Hilton, who also owns Eighteenth Street Lounge, and offers Belgium food (a nod to the fact that Marvin Gaye spent years in Belgium getting over drug addictions and bankruptcy).

The DJ is on the 2nd floor and with no bouncer, no cover and no dress code this place is for the laid back, chic soul star. (Shout out to everyone who appreciates blues and jazz music). If you're looking for hip-hop or Top 40 bangers don't come here...it's all about that R&B baby. He also spins hits from the 60s and 70s, which means alotta' Motown.

Great concept, great idea, great place.
