If You're Brave Enough...Parties Tonight

The weather is absolutely and completely awful but if you're brave enough, here are some great events to take your mind off of the clouds and grey skies:

Tonight at The Space (903 N Street NW) there is a wonderful benefit party to raise money for breast cancer. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Prevent Cancer Foundation

The Republic (1355 U Street NW) is throwing a party tonight with DJ Trini on the tables. Everyone is free before midnight and last week was packed.

Did you hear? Play (1219 Connecticut Ave. NW) is closing down and they're having a party to celebrate their final days. Ladies are free all night with complimentary Moet and Nuvo at midnight. Fellas, only pay $10 to party with $5 drink specials all night. Go say goodbye to Play Lounge.

Play Lounge Tonight | Same venue...different crowd?

There's some new guys in town...well kinda. But they're taking over Play Lounge (1219 CT Ave.) this Wednesday with the grand opening of The Upper Room.

I wonder what type of crowd Two Tone Productions and South Side Sity will bring out. They're asking for the 21 and over DC socialites to attend. Are you going?

To score a table, click here.

p.s. To see a recap of Play when Dave & Ray, Ra-Ra and Scotty and Talk of DC did it...click here! :)

Get your hump day happy hour on!

Tonight at Play (1219 CT Ave.) they're giving away two VIP tickets to see Kanye West on Saturday, May 10 at Nissan Pavilion (I'm goingggg!)

Marc Barnes is hosting another evening at The Park (920 14th St.) tonight. There's no cover and this place is really swank so check it out!

I got a text saying that ladies are free all night at Josephines (1008 Vermont Ave.)

Last but not least, K Street Lounge (1301 K Street NW) always pops off on Wednesday. Ladies free until 12 but for everyone else it's $20. DJ Quicksilva will be on the 1s and 2s.

Stay fab! :)

Mini Recap: Play Lounge

By 1 AM Play Lounge (1219 CT Ave. NW) still wasn't poppin 'off. With half of the venue roped off to make it appear more crowded even though that still didn't help. It seems that the boys and girl (Hi Yodit!) are suffering from the Starbucks Syndrome, oversaturation.

Last Saturday's party at Olives was no doubt a highlight of the month...but let's just hope last night isn't an indication of things to come.

And to the person that I'll remain nameless, please don't offer me a drink with mouth stains and lipstick stains all around the glass. I'm a germaphobe...I will notice. And secondly, that's nasty.

Stay fab! ...not nasty!

Hump Day Mini-Recaps | K Street | Play

Yup, I went out on Wednesday night...why not right? It seemed like everybodyyyyy in the District had the same idea cuz it was packed around town.

I don't know if it was Lebron or what but K Street Lounge (1301 K Street NW) was packed. I couldn't even get in...unless I wanted to buy a table for $500 and um, no. Thanks. They were doing "one in" | "one out" by 12:15 AM and you know that's the time I like to show up so...Still,  Andre Blatche (Washington Wizards) and Lamont Jordan (Oakland Raider and native of the DMV) were up in there...per usual.

OH! I almost forgot...why did sexy fine Leon stroll out of K Street...oh yes he did, looking like J.T. in the flesh! (That's a Five Heartbeats reference for the slow ones...)

Play Lounge (1219 CT Ave. NW) was the same scene, although at least here you could get in. Still, I don't think I've ever seen Play this packed and people seemed to be enjoying themselves...dancing on furniture and ish (didn't your momma teach you better?)

Doors open at 6 for happy hour and the party goes all night! :)

Shout out to "The Hotboy" DJ Quicksilva, he'll be on the 1's and 2's for giving me luv last night during the Q&A invasion on WKYS!

And the boys over at Play Lounge (1219 CT Ave. NW)...shout out to Dave & Ray, Ra-Ra and Scotty along with The Talk of DC are hosting a happy hour tonight. Go around 8; that's when things start poppin' off.

US Doctors for Africa | Play Lounge

Tonight, Play Lounge (1219 Connecticut Ave. NW) will be a little bit different. Play will serve as the official happy hour for the U.S. Doctors for Africa (USDFA) conference.

I'm not sure when this happy hour starts, it's say 6 PM on the flier and 8 PM on the email so go sometime around then and I'm sure you'll get in.

Valentine Fab: Eros at Play Lounge

I know Dave & Ray have been trying really hard to do something different and special for all y'all happy hour couples and singles this upcoming Wednesday at Play Lounge (1219 CT Ave.)

They have cute drinks dubbed "Love Potion #9" and "Swag Juice", a midnight champagne toast and they're even auctioning off DC's eligible bachelors and bachelorettes (do they come with a background check?!)

Stop by!

Obama '08 at Play Lounge Tomm!

This is so fitting since today is Super Tuesday, but the Obama '08 Committee is hosting tommorow night's party (2.6.08) at Play Lounge (1219 CT Ave. NW) along with of course Dave & Ray, TeamBBC and the IDC Group.

I'm still undecided but I still have time before the MD primary.
Head up to the second floor...drinks on Dave? :)

Raheem DeVaughn @ K Street | Grand Opening of Play Lounge | Eva Pigford @ the Avenue

Raheem DeVaughn has been busy around the District promoting his upcoming album Love Behind the Melody, which hits stores tomorrow (1.15.08). Raheem starts touring soon, although he won't end up in DC until around March at Constitution Hall on Tuesday, 3.11.08 through Saturday, 3.15 .08. Mark your calendars.

But if you can't wait that long to hear his new soulful sounds, go to K Street Lounge (1301 K Street NW) tomorrow night for his album release party thrown by Mad Power Unit. Open bar from 6-8 and again from 10-11. Ladies in free before 11. Can't beat it!

---

Dave & Ray along with Ra-Ra & Scotty have ditched Steve's Bar Room and are now throwing parties at Play Lounge (1219 CT Ave. NW). Perhaps the switch because Steve's Bar Room never got packedddd...ever.

It seems like a nicer venue anyway (I hear they have a stripper pole). Inside Play you'll find couches and great lounge areas that require a $500 minimummmm (ballinnnn!). Sounds by DC's "The Original" DJ Quicksilver (not to be confused with DJ Quic that we always hear on the radio) and it's the GRAND OPENING so go see for yourself!!!!

Oh yea, congrats to a successful party at Olives last Saturday!!!!

And on Thursday, is it true that ANTM fab Eva Pigford is coming to The Avenue (649 NY Ave. NW)?!?!?! Too bad The Avenue is known for it's...shall we say ghetto fabulousness. Hmm...hope it works out.
