Halloween Parties!

Halloween is fast approaching and I am a total big kid; I love Halloween (partly because my mom never really let me celebrate it during my childhood...boo on her!). Anyway, here are some fun and traditional ideas to celebrate Halloween in the DMV:

DC Fab! Girl on Halloween circa 2007

>> The Usual Suspectz are hosting a costume party at Club 24 (2122 24th Street NE) on Friday night. The winner of the best costume will receive $500 so don't sleep (I've already bought my costumeeeee!) This party is 18+. Click here for more details.

>> To start Halloween off right, Fur (33 Patterson Street NE) is hosting a Thursday night party complete with open bar from 9-10 PM. Everybody is free until 11 PM and the party is hosted by WKYS' Angie Ange (I swear I saw her walking across Farrugut Park the other day). Click here for more details.

>> If you're on that recession diet, head to Republic (1355 U Street NW) because it's FREE all night! That's right folks...but you must RSVP here.

>>Also, I must shout out the commenter who really made me see the light about Love (1350 Okie Street NW). That's just it, if you liked Love 3-5 years ago, you really shouldn't be going there now. Let the kiddies enjoy it. Dag...and I thought I was grown partying in Love 3-5 years ago. I guess, I'll let Love die. But if you're not willing to let it go, head there and get in free with a costume all night. They're hosting a 4th floor costume party. The winner will recieve $1000 in bottle service (that's a lot of liquor).

>>Pure (1326 U Street NW) is also having a recession-friendly party with ladies free until 12 and fellas free before 11. Click here to make that happen! Oh! And $100 plus a bottle of champagne for the best costume! :)

If you're not into partying on Halloween (who are you?!)...just kidding, here are some fun alternatives:

>> Go to Fright Fest at Six Flags America in Largo. It's open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night until 10 PM. Get tickets here.

>>Pick out a pumpkin at a nearby pumpkin patch! This is one of my favorite things to do around this season (partly because I couldn't dress up as a child so this is all we did...). Click here to find one near you! :)

>>Go on a haunted train ride. I've never done this but I reallllly reallly want to. Sounds like a fun date. Go on a creepy carousel and a haunted hayride in Wheaton. Click here for more info!

Howard Homecoming 2008 - Saturday NIGHT!

It's the end of the weekend and if you're not tired yet, pull out your freekum and your hard bottoms and let's take over the city:

If you're looking for THE party to cram into, The Park at Fourteenth (920 14th Street NW). Diddy and AJ will be in the building. They're requesting only black attire (swankkkkky). The party goes until 3 AM.

If you've got the money (because the $45 tickets are sold out and it'll be $80 to get in) head to Bobby Vans (12th and NY Ave. NW) where DJ Kid Capri will be on the tables. It's a masquerade theme...oh and did I mention open bar ALL NIGHT with free appetizers and free deserts all night too??

Penang (1837 M Street NW) and Mai Thai (1200 19th Street NW) are shutting down 19th and M Streets to bring you one of the first block parties in years! A great idea, one price gets your admission to both venues. Get your tickets here...they range from $20-$250.

The third annual Cufflinks and Cocktails party is going down at Champions in Georgetown (1206 Wisconsin Ave. NW). Admission is $20 with a complimentary buffet.

Some sexy HU alum like Lamman Rucker will be at The Republic (1355 U Street NW) tonight. Also, Ryan Leslie (who is working the homecoming scene) will be in the building. Happy Hour from 7-10. Get in with a discount when your print this. Don't think this party will shut down anytime soon. Around 2 AM the party starts all over again and goes until 'until'. Complimentary breakfast from 3-5 AM. The first 500 ladies get in free (at 2 AM).

Y'all know about my huge musical crush on Ryan Leslie. Well, he'll be at Zanzibar (700 Water Street SW) tonight. Reduced admission before 10 PM.(that's mad early)

The City Museum (801 K Street NW) is poppin' off tonight with the sounds of Biz Markie (he's working this weekend, ain't he?). The party is called "Old Skool meets New School" with DJ Quicksilva reppin' the new school. Angie Ang will also be in the building.

Layla (501 Morse Street NW) is hosting a party tonight featuring DJ SNS. It's a more upscale venue (meaning freekum dresses).

CALLING ALL GREEKS (and people who love them)! The Kappas, Alphas, Omegas and Sigmas (damn, the Iotas never get no love!) are hosting tonight's party at Fur (33 Patterson Street NE). The first 500 ladies with this flyer get in free! :) It's 18+ to get in here.

Wow, I haven't partied here in years...Cafe Asia (1720 Eye Street NW) is having a HU alumni party for the classes of '97-'07. The party goes until 3 AM. Don't pay more than $20 to get in here. :)

DJ Khaled at Fur Tonight!

If you can survive the youngins (sorry Anton but...yea) head to Fur (33 Patterson St. NE) where the one of the biggest hypemen/DJs will be in the building.

DJ Khaled will probably spin some records say "We the Best!....Listen!!!" all night long but at least for the 21 and older ladies, you get in free all night! Just text the word firstclass to 313131 and be prepared to get annoying texts for the rest of your life! :)

Labor Day Parties | The Conclusion

If you want to go out and party with a lot of grown and sexy people, check out the grand opening of Current (1215 CT. Ave NW). For more information about this 'autumn party' click here. This is a guaranteed winner.

The 'Hotboy' DJ Quicksilva will be at The Park at Fourteenth (920 14th Street NW). This is another great spot if you're looking for a more upscale and mature time! The party goes on here until 3:30 AM.  RSVP here by 4 PM to get VIP admission.

CALLING ALL JIM JONES' FANS! He'll be at Fur nightclub (33 Patterson St. NE) tonight.

Layla Lounge is having what they call International Sundays so expect a mixed crowd. With DJ Sexy and DJ Explosive on the 1s and 2s, expect a lot of salsa, merengue and reggaeton in this spot.

K Street Lounge (1301 K Street NW) has a premium open bar tonight from 9-11 PM. I'd start my night off here and hop over to some of the other happening parties in the city.

And of course, with the Republic (1355 U Street NW) trying to get back in the nightlife action, they're offering an open bar from 10-11 PM. My man, DJ Goldenboy will be on the 1s and 2s.

Weekend Rundown: Stone Soul etc.

Hi all...okay so I lied when I said I wouldn't be dipping out for the rest of the summer...just taking a short trip to NYC for the weekend with my line sisters! :) So like my man Sean Breezey said, "At least give people the weekend rundown..." And so I will:

>>> Friday: It's 8.8.08 so you have to go out!!! Pure also known as "the old Barnun" (1326 U Street NW) has $1.00 drinks from 6-9 tonight. The usual hot spots are poppin' off Love (1350 Okie Street) and Fur (33 Patterson St. NE) tonight if you like big spots but if you're looking for something new and don't mind traveling outside of the District, check out The Mark (7410 Baltimore Ave.) in College Park. It's a small spot (and yes there will be college kids there) but it's a 21+ spot with a great decor and great drinks!

>>> Saturday: STONE SOUL PICNIC has a great line up and I'm really sad I'm going to miss it. With performances by Solange, Jazmine Sullivan, Eric Benet, Joe, Marvin Sapp and many more head over to RFK Stadium (2400 East Capitol Street, SE) with your family and friends. Afterwards, H20 (800 Water Street) claims to be having the official after party but you can also try out Layla (801 Morse Street), Penang (1837 M Street NW) or Station 9 (1430 U Street NW). Shout out to Anwar at DopeFresh.

>>> Sunday: Cool out on the rooftop at The Beacon Hotel (1615 Rhode Island Ave. NW) from 3-9 PM with drinks, music and a different crowd! :)

Carmelo, Ray J, Bow Wow at Ibiza | Allen Iverson, Serena Williams at Love

There's a helluva lot poppin' off tonight so I'll just get straight to the point...

Who isn't stopping by Ibiza (1222 First Street NE) tonight? Carmelo, LaLa, DJ Khaled, Ray J and Bow Wow, Bryan Micheal Cox (wow, producers are getting mad love these days), Big G, Cool and Dre and even Slim from 112 will all be up in this mega-club. Check out the rooftop lounge if you're not partying too hard. Get here early...I'm sure it'll crowded and over $20 after 11 PM.

Calling all AKAs! You're free if you hit up Zanzibar (700 Water Street SW) if you're wearing para. Big Tigger is supposedly hosting this affair.

Love (1350 Okie Street NW) is battling Ibiza with the most number of celebs to be in the building. Vernon Davis, Carmelo is also slated to stop by here with his (can he marry her already?!) fiancée LaLa, Allen Iverson, Serena Williams, The Clipse (who performs tonight at Ned Devine's), Mike Beasley and many more. Get here early as well...it'll be crazy packed. Oh yea, Too Short and Maino (You see me!! Hi Hater) will be performing.

And Fur (33 Patterson St. NE) wants to keep up and lined up Trey Songz and Yung Berg to fill up The Mink Room, which is the 21 and over section in Fur. RSVP here to get in.

AKA Centennial Events Continued...

Sundays usually don't pop off too hard in DC but the AKAs are here...so everybody's trying to do something:

>>>I dislike Fur Nightclub (33 Patterson St. NE) for the same reason that I dislike most major nightspots...too many people. I feel like it's a cattle call for the good the bad and the ugly. Still, it's sure to pop off tonight with Lil Boosie, David Banner, Allen Iverson and Carmello Anthony in the building. Please get there early...the ladies of pink and green are here and they wanna go out. The first 500 ladies (AKA's or not) get in free! :)

>>> And if you're looking for a more chill evening, try out Lavar Arrington's Sideline sports bar (800 Capital Center Blvd. Largo, MD). It's supposed to be the spot for Allen Iverson's Celeb Weekend Grand Finale. Click here for a recap from a fab! fan.

Fourth of July | Friday's Events

Good ole Gorilla Zoe (what type of name?!) is performing at Fur (33 Patterson NE) tonight. To see my love for Gorilla check out this clip! :)

Bun B is performing at Love (1350 Okie Street NW) tonight. I swear, if Love keeps this Summer lineup they won't fall totally into obscurity.  Oh yea, also rumored to be in the building is former Terrapin Steve Francis. (Go Terps!)

One of my fav DJs, DJ Cuzzin B will be spinning at Asia Nine (915 E Street NW). I hear it's free all night with an RSVP.

My Friday Night Picks

You really should be headed to VA to see Anita Baker, but if you're not a fan like I am, here are some local nightspots that should be poppin' off tonight.
(in no particular order!!!!)

1. Love (1350 Okie Street NW). Apparently, Alicia Keys, Ne-Yo, Biz Markie and Slick Rick will all be in the building. Ms. Keys and Ne-Yo will be performing live at the Verizon Center tonight and if you haven't gotten your tickets yet...don't worry they haven't sold out.

2. Fur (33 Patterson St.). CALLING ALL TREY SONGZ FANS! He'll be here tonight. I really dislike this club but feel free to check it out.

3. Ibiza (1222 First St.) Around the corner from  Fur is Ibiza, another mega club that tries to bring a little bit of everything. Sneak up to the rooftop for more of a lounge feel. Click here to get in free before 11.

And if you don't like big clubs...as these all are, then check out my next post. It's about a spot I found tucked in Adams Morgan...it may be the new chill spot.

The Clipse at Fur | Flo-rida Returns to Love

If you like music then stop by Fur (33 Patterson Street NE) or Love (1350 Okie Street NW) tonight:

The Clipse will be at Fur tonight. I've only been to Fur one time, spent 5 minutes there and left...It's definitely a younger crowd and can be fun I'm sure. (Shout out to DMV Events and LGI Entertainment!!) Go see for yourself.

UMD's fashion forward folks, the Echelon Fashion Society (shout out to Alonzo and Nikki and Shakirah) is having their fashion show tonight and are partying after at Love.  Flo-rida will be joining them as he's performing in the District one more time...(shawty get low low low lowwwww)

p.s. For the groupies, I hear Antawn Jamison will be in the building...

CollegeFab: Latex Party at Fur Nightclub | Feb. 22

Although it's not my style, I can't hate on college students that want to go out and have a good time. Go to Fur (33 Patterson St. NE) ONLY if you're not over 21 and you don't mind little kids. :)

I luv how the theme is a nod to Louisiana and Texas (they even have DJ Energizer from Houston) but also to safe sex and lawd knows college students need a lesson in that!

Support the Reds at Fur Nightclub

LGI Entertainment is always hooking up with the collegiates...and this time, they've teamed up with my sorors (of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.) at Alpha Chapter to throw a back to school party for all those still in the process of getting that degree at Fur Nightclub (33 Patterson St. NE).

I don't know what "discounts before 11" means but I guess they want you to get there early.

New Years Parties in DC | Mai Thai | Penang | Ibiza | Fur | K Street| H20

Sorry it's taken me so long to give you the rundown on what's happening in DC on New Years Eve 2007. But I've kept my ear to the ground and here's what's going on around town:

Before the New Year's celebrations even pop off, Mai Thai (19th and M St. NW) is coming back with the Grand Finale of G4's Fashion Monster's series. With Esby Inc. in tow, I'm sure this party will be G&S (that's grown and sexy for the slow folk).

A lot of people have been telling me they've missed Mai Thai so I hope it doesn't dissapoint. With $5 valet and hopefully some ventilation, come spend your Christmas money here.

-------------------------------------------------

It's New Years and you want to know where to go...for cheap?

The cheapest I've found is (of course) Fur nightclub (33 Patterson Street NE). It's an 18+ party so I won't be there...but the kiddies need to have fun too! It's only $25 to get in and they have 3 hours of open bar!!!

-------------------------------------------------

Then, for $35 you can head to Ibiza nightclub (1222 First Street, NE) , which is right down the street from Fur. I'm sure Ibiza won't get crowded, because this place is so HUGE. It's figgin' 30,000 sq. feet!!! It's also 18+ so before you get the digits, check her ID. They also have VIP for $150 which gets you open bar from 9-2 AM.

-------------------------------------------------

And if you're ballin', you can spend $50 to get into K Street Lounge (1301 K Street NW) .The party is sponsored by Dom Perignon and they have open bar from 9 - 10 PM.

Doesn't seem like a good deal to me...

-------------------------------------------------

Calling all Trey Songs fans!!!!! He'll be at H20 (800 Water Street) on New Years. It's $30 with open bar from 8 - 10 AM. Drinks and a show for $30; can't beat that! Thanks Abdul!!

-------------------------------------------------

And if you love to party on 19th and M, Sayo & crew are giving us New Years at his new spot Penang (1837 M Street, NW). For $65, you'll have open bar from 9- 3 AM. You can only get your tickets here. The attire is cocktail and for all you cheap people, general admission is $40.

More to come...

Black College Reunion | 1837 M | Shuddafukup?

This weekend, people are already asking me where to go in the District. Well ask no further, it's all right here. We'll call this, TheFab Rundown!

Friday, Dec. 14, LGI along with DJ Goldenboy are having their usual at Fur (33 Patterson NE). We all know how I feel about Fur...with youngin's running around and watered down drinks in cups the size of sippie cups. It's just not my cup of tea, but go see for yourself!

-----------------------------------------------------------

Sayo thought he could rename Penang and no one would notice, but his party, 1837M (which is the address of Penang) is happening this Friday, Dec. 14.

A Baltimore favorite, DJ K.I. will be on the 1s and 2s and make sure you buy Sayo a drink, it's his birthday!

-----------------------------------------------------------

Is anyone else not feeling these Shuddafukup adverstisements? I mean, I could let the half-naked-white-girl-screaming-for-no-reason flyer go...but the man putting the pistol in the woman's mouth is just...HORRIBLE!!! What are you trying to promote at your parties, physical violence and/or homicide?

Find another way boo...

I don't know what kind of party DT is throwing, but it's happening on Dec. 15 at Cafe Asia (1720 Eye Street NW).

DC Fab: Nina Sky | Cassidy | Mya

Ahh! HU Homecoming is over...but people wanna keep the party going. I'm kinda' worn out myself, but for all those who still gotta' little party left in them. Here you go:

Thursday, October 25, 2007

Fur is biggin' up all the DC local acts, such as Mya and Tabi Boney (the "Put You in the Pocket" guy). Along with Cassidy (lovin' his new single!)... they'll be at Fur (33 Patterson NE) on Thursday night for the college crowd. You already know what 18 and over means...

---------------------------------------------------

Yet, if you wanna travel down the road, my boy Floyd along with The Kool Kidz are trying to turn G's into gentlemen. Finally! A grown and sexy party in Baltimore! "The Return of the Gentleman" will be very interesting...we'll see if Baltimore can pull it off.

Of course, it's at Eden's (15 W. Eager St)...where else would it be? I love, love, love Eden's. Support their Happy Hours too (2 for 1 drinks). Shout to Gary.

---------------------------------------------------

Friday, October 26, 2007

My sweetheart Olu along with (the very much waitlisted) Kunle are throwing something at The Mark (7410 Baltimore Ave). I've been telling people to take this spot over but finally someone listened!

On Friday they're throwing "The Jet Set Affair". Be ready to bring some gwap, cuz the drinks are kinda' expensive.

---------------------------------------------------

Saturday, October 27, 2007

I'll definitely give this party "The Most Arrogant of the Year" award! The Grand Opening of The Beautiful Room at Pasha (2147 P St. NW). It's an invite only event...free...but invite only. I'd go lookin' FLYYYY (in my high pitched voice) because otherwise you'd get turned away. (that's kinda funny but kinda' rude).

Oh well...attempt at your own discretion.

---------------------------------------------------

And if Nina Sky has any fans left, they'll be at Fur (33 Patterson St. NE) on Saturday. And in the Halloween spirit, they're having a costume contest! How cute!

---------------------------------------------------

Keepin in the Halloween spirit, it's not my favorite holiday of the year (I don't even like watching scary movies because I have bad nerves. It's true) but they're many haunted houses for those who like to be frightened! Click here for more info.

K, bye.

The Weekend in Review!

Let's Recap! I'm not gon' front and act like I know about everything that went on in the District due to Howard and UMD's Homecoming but lemme tell you what I do know...

Love (1350 Okie Street): A source told me that the bouncers at Love were extremely rude Friday night. When the night was over they (literally) pushed people down the stairs to get them to leave the club and even called some poor patron the B-word all because she wasn't moving down the steps fast enough. Love isn't being too lovely.

Did you know that Love has a new policy where they don't turn off the lights in the club until 1 AM to reduce the fights? (that's wack)

Grade: B-
----------------------------------------------

H20: How disapointinggggg. Lil Wayne never showed up and they had people paying $80 to get up in there. That's a mess.

Grade: F
----------------------------------------------

Tuscana West: This was interesting. Idk why me and my friends tried to get there before 11 (not like I go anywhere early) but...whatever. It got packed, mostly with UMD alum. The drinks were still expensive compared to most lounges and for some reason the dance floor always gets crowded.

It was definitely a college crowd with the DJ shoutin' out Greeks every five seconds.

The DJ...yo, if you gon' preview a song in the middle of another song, could you at least play that song next?? Stop teasin' people. Oh yea, sound system kept cuttin' out and don't try to play it off by talking over it...we're smart.

Oh yea, valet...horrible.

Grade: B +
----------------------------------------------
Cafe Asia: Compared to last week the number of party-goers was smaller yet much better dressed. And although the party flyer said, no degree needed to party (GHETTO) everyone looked like they had at least graduated from high school.

Oh yea, can't forget Hurricane Chris stopped by. Didn't seem like anyone cared tho. Why does he still have those Venus and Serena Williams beads in his head???

Grade: B
----------------------------------------------

Olives: A source told me this place is pretty great...alotta' space altho' there's not many places to sit down and chill. Also, people kept getting upset because all the bars weren't open and people were trying to get J-Kwon. Oh well...

Grade: N/A
----------------------------------------------

Fur: Krush 4.0, the party that started at 2 AM on Saturday gets the "Stand Out Party" prize...altho' by that time people are ready to go to sleep or get someone to go sleep with. Good try tho'...I liked the idea.

All in all, Howard Homecoming was much better than Hampton's and DC stayed fabulous...it had everyone ready to move back to the District.

Grade: N/A

K, bye!

My girls and I at Tuscana West (1350 Eye Street NW)...around 2 AM and we still look good.
