OMG Howard Homecoming Make It Stop!

I don't know how the rest of you District folk feel but I'm kinda' getting sick of Howard Homecoming already and the weekend isn't even here. All these outta' towners invading our city, thinkin' they're cute and toleratin' the fact that it's $40 to get into the club, when seriously...if they were throwing parties for college students they wouldn't be charging that much. It's crazy!

Still, I guess I'm tolerating the system by promoting these things:

I really need to go to Ozio's...last time I went it was alotta' fun. Since they moved to (1812) M Street, I haven't been. Still...I hear it has an upscale feel with a swanked out bar BUT no place to really chill, sit down and lounge.

The VIP floor is the best, of course, with faster service and more room to breathe. The 2nd floor is the dance floor but it still has tables for eating...which get all in the way.

I don't know, go see for yourself.

Still, sexy fine Tank will be at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill (400 New Jersey Ave NW). They got three different dance floors so this actually might be the jump off...or at least a place to meet one. ;-) (Bad joke?)

mtvU is rewarding students this month. Talib Kweli could perform at your school if you click on the button below. The top 5 schools that demand Talib will have him show up at their school. The contest ends at 2PM PST on October 17th.

Peace and a bottle of hair grease!

UMD | Howard Homecoming 2007 Part Trois

Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007

University of Maryland
is startin' their homecoming off right at Love (1350 Okie St.). They're hosting the "Passion for Fashion" party, which features a fashion show sponsored by Up Against the Wall, a local DC trendy shop. Aight MD, I see you...

Friday, Oct. 19, 2007

If you're an outta' towner lookin' for the spot where the locals hang, go strait to The Avenue (649 New York Ave. NW). If this place ain't ghetto...Raheem DaVaughn along with Taraji Henson, the homechick from Hustle & Flow (and every other black movie) will be in the place.

Try to sneak to the third floor...it's the only acceptable floor.

Erykah Badu is makin' her way back to the District for HU's Homecoming. She'll be at Liv (2001 11th St. NW) for their "True School Hip Hop Party" where they're playing only the top hits from Hip Hop over the years...hmm, sounds very familiar to another party I went to at Mai Thai. hmm, whatev.

To get your tickets, click here.

All you MD alumni who are skipping the actual football game (why is the game at 8 PM?!) go see my ex-favorite singer Keyshia Cole and my other baby father, LL Cool J at H20 (800 Water Street). I'm so very proud of Abdul for his lineup for homecoming! Snaps for him.

p.s. In case anyone cared why Keyshia is my ex-fav singer...well, she just been real flat lately...did y'all see her at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors and I can't forget what she did to the Big Fat Morning Show on 92Q FM in Baltimore. Humph!

You know there's more...but I'll keep you waiting. ;-) Yes, I'ma' tease.

Howard University Homecoming 2007 Part Deaux

It's that time of year again...Howard Homecoming 2007.

You've heard it in songs, you've seen the emails and now it's here. With so much to do maybe I can help you figure it out:

Friday, Oct. 19, 2007

My boyfriend is coming into town, y'all probably know him as Diddy. He'll be at Love (1350 Okie Street) on two days, Friday and Saturday. Tigger will be joining him on Saturday to celebrate the real HU. If you want to pay $20 for parking, $40 to get in and $40 to get right...go here. (boo, it's so not worth it)

So apparently, the owner of H20, Abdul must have an obsession with Fabo because he's bringing him back for Howard Homecoming. It's 18 and over tonight so like I always say check the ID before gettin' the digits.

Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007

Sayo and Brandon are throwing their last party at Tuscana West (1350 Eye Street) this weekend. With an invite only happy hour from 8-10, it's only $20 to get in. Click here to get on the list.

Cheeky Sasso Entertainment is throwing the most unique party this weekend. Held at the Beacon Hotel (1615 Rhode Island Ave NW) the party is called "A Homecoming Hip Hopera", complete with a lite Turkey buffet and personal masseuses for those who'd like to take relaxing a little further. Click here to RSVP.

You know there's more parties to come but until next time...

Howard Homecoming 2007 | University of Maryland Homecoming 2007

If you thought Morgan's homecoming was crazy (The line for Redwood Trust was ridiculous...but the party inside Xanadu was crazy fun! Shout out to AJ, Brian, Brandon and Jerell) get ready for the most publicized homecoming in America:

Howard University 2007. (oh yea, Univ. of MD is celebratin' their homecoming too! YEA FOR MY ALMA MATER!)

Wed., Oct. 17, 2007

Startin' off the week right, DC's favorite R&B singer, Raheem Davaughn will be at Spank Wednesday's at 1223. Open bar from 6-8 PM.

...skipping the rest of the week...

Friday, Oct. 19, 2007

Cafe Asia (1720 Eye Street NW) refused to miss out on all the Howard festivities...honey, can we STOP with all the Kanye references in promotional material? It's getting annoying.

But beware: Last time I went here it looked like a grown up Platinum. The theme for Cafe Asia parties should be: "I'm so hooooood!" LIS-TEN!

If you don't want to pull out your cocktail dress and heels go to Felix (2406 18th St. NW) for their Howard Homecoming Reunion party. I celebrated my 22nd birthday here yesterday and I absolutely LOVE this place.

Chill on the 2nd floor with it's chic white couches...the DJ will let you dance with him too! ;-) I love, love, love Felix! It's very "bar meets lounge chic"!

Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007

The questionable, Fonzworth Bentley will be at Olives (1600 K St. NW) for Homecoming Weekend. DJ Quicksilver will be on the tables and you must be fly cuz they will turn your busted self away! Click here for advance tickets.

You know this is just the tip of the iceberg...more HU/UMD parties to come!
