Recap: G4 Crew Reappears on Friday Nights at Mai Thai

"Don't call it a comeback..."

If you're anything like me then I'm sure you had high expectations for G4's return to Mai Thai (1200 19th St NW) on Friday night. Despite the rain and construction that surrounded Mai Thai, people found their way to a party they once knew.  Fortunately enough for Scottie and Co., they lived up to these expectations to provide consistency that was introduced a little over a year ago when their parties were more frequent.

After long day at work, DJ KI (despite one turntable and effed up needles) was just what the doctor ordered, offering old and new school, Hip Hop and R&B (but no Brandy!). And even better, the crowd was not packed against the wall. There was enough room to mingle and party without being too intrusive; which is an ultimate PLUS!

I did notice a difference from last year's parties, which felt more like an out of control house party...and while I couldn't call Friday night that, it felt more like Homecoming with many familiar faces in the spot.

Still, I have a complaint: ENOUGH with the blasted "fly/"fresh" concept!! While I can understand that you're trying to create an exclusive atmosphere, much like the party scene in Miami; DC is a far cry from Miami. Even more, DC is not as fashion-conscious as those areas who have earned the privilege of demanding that partygoers "get fly or get lost".  Just keep it simple and continue to guarantee hot music and great vibes.

I look forward to the next G4 event nonetheless :)

p.s. Max where are the pics? Thanks!
